Chapter: 2538
Tears welled up in Annis' eyes.

She felt incredibly fortunate.

Overwhelmed, she hugged him tightly and said, “They're too expensive. I can't accept them..."

“You are my daughter. Who else would I give them to? Do you expect me to keep these until I'm in my coffin?" Nelson responded with a smile.

However, Annis quickly covered his mouth, saying, "Don't talk of such unlucky things."

Alick also thought the jewels were exceedingly valuable.

Their worth was immense.

"I'll get the jewelry ready," Alick said.

Nelson felt Alick was being overly formal. "It doesn't matter whether you or I pay for the jewelry. I don't mind it," he said.

Before Alick could respond, Nelson pressed on. “Annis is my only child. What's mine isn't that hers too? Should I take these to the grave when I pass? Don't think of me as an outsider. If you think you owe me anything, treat her well. If you mistreat her, I'll hold you accountable.”

Alick was not perturbed by Nelson's words. Rather, he replied solemnly, “Don't worry."

Nelson gave him a reassuring pat on the shoulder, adding, "Now, you need to take care of yourself first."

He didn't want Alick to suffer any lasting effects from his injury, for he couldn't bear to see Annis spend her life with someone incapacitated.

Touched by her father's selflessness, Annis felt tears well up.

She rested her head on his shoulder and pleaded, “Dad, come to Clouland with me."

She dreaded the thought of leaving Nelson alone.

After all, with Cathy gone, how could he not feel the burden of loneliness?

As people aged, their fear of loneliness only intensified.

Nelson had grown accustomed to his life here. Relocating would be too disruptive.

This home held countless cherished memories with Cathy.
