Chapter: 2539
"You have your own family now. It wouldn't be right for me to intrude on your marriage," Nelson declared. "And I don't want to leave here."
Annis understood that Nelson wished to spend his remaining days surrounded by memories of Cathy, which was why he insisted on staying in his home.
She was uncertain whether Nelson's actions in the past were morally correct.
However, she recognized his deep love for Cathy.
She couldn't help but envy such devotion.
Cathy and Nelson were each other's one and only in their lives.
Perhaps Nelson's love was selfish, but it was genuine and untainted by personal gain. It was pure love in its essence.
Still, he had made mistakes in his methods.
It wasn't entirely fair to say he was wrong.
Because of his actions, Cathy had lived longer than expected.
After all, had he not rescued her back then, she would have perished long ago.
Admittedly, it was his fault that he made her lose memory.
No one could truly judge their past.
Only those directly involved could determine its rightness.
"Okay, okay," Nelson conceded, sensing his daughter's disappointment.
"You're about to get married. You should be happy."
Annis smiled at her father. “I am truly happy to be marrying Alick," she said.
Her affection was apparent, as she never hesitated to express her feelings.
Compared to her, Alick seemed less frank around the elders.
When dinner time approached, they left to collect Isaac, Camila, and the others.
