Chapter: 2559
Driven by a sudden need for her attention, he rushed over to her.

"Am I not better than a gift?"

Annis looked up, genuinely surprised by his sudden outburst.

Their eyes locked, and for nearly a minute, they stood in silence, the air between them thick with unspoken words.

Alick felt a wave of embarrassment wash over him.

He stammered slightly as he spoke. “Why... why are you looking at me like that?" Touching his own face self-consciously, he asked, “Is there something on my face?"

Annis shook her head, her expression serious but soft. "Your face is fine, but there's something strange about you."

Alick leaned in closer, "What is it?"

"You're so cheeky. When did you become like this?"

Annis remarked, her tone incredulous, not even waiting for Alick's response before continuing, “Of course, a gift is better than you. Have you forgotten what Isaac gave me? Wasn't that better than you?"

Alick felt a pang of hurt at her words.

He knew about the substantial sum of money Isaac had gifted her, enough to ensure a lifetime of comfort and Luxury without worry.

Annis was not stupid.

But he hadn't expected her to value material wealth over their relationship.

He knew she valued money because men might change their minds, but money?

It never changes.

What could make people feel more secure than money nowadays?

Alick was rendered speechless, his mind scrambling to respond.

Finally, he cleared his throat, trying to reason with her. “Don't forget that Camila is not as wealthy as Isaac. She won't be able to give you the same kind of money."

Annis waved off his concerns dismissively, her determination unwavering. "She specifically told me it's a special gift, not something as vulgar as money." Annis continued, "Go. Go and take a shower. I'll continue my search."
