Chapter: 4131
Leonel returned to his office from a meeting. He was reviewing a document concerning a newly registered firm overseas.
Indeed, he was planning to go abroad as well.
Since he couldn't make Alexis stay, he decided to follow her abroad.
While Leonel was looking over a document, his phone rang. The caller ID showed an unfamiliar number. He hesitated for a moment before answering. There was a brief silence on the line before someone uttered, “Leonel, I need to talk to you in person!"
It was Anika.
Leonel responded with a frown, his voice heavy, "I don't see the need for that. Please, don't call me again. We're done. Got it?"
Anika's voice was full of emotion as she replied, “That's not fair, Leonel. What about me... Have you even considered how I feel? My whole family thinks I'm getting married because they know I have a boyfriend."
Leonel lit a cigarette and replied coldly, "But I never promised to marry you."
After a pause, Anika's voice oozed sarcasm. "Oh, I almost forgot. You've always thought of Alexis as your wife, haven't you? But she doesn't want you anymore."
With that, she ended the call.
Leonel immediately blocked her number. After thinking it over, he called Sterling Law Firm and requested to speak with Alexis.
He hadn't been bothering her lately. And Alexis wouldn't turn him away if he asked to see the kids.
“How can I help you?"
Alexis' voice came through the phone, deep and slightly raspy, which Leonel found strangely attractive. He was well aware that she had been seeing Timmy frequently lately.
She often accompanied Timmy to the pub, where he would serenade her with a song. This made Leonel jealous, though he never voiced his feelings to Alexis for fear of upsetting her.
Thus, when Alexis picked up the phone, Leonel said gently, “Tomorrow afternoon, I'll pick up Evelyn and Daniel, and I'll bring Ollie along too. It's been some time since he last had a bath."
In reality, he just wanted an excuse to talk to her.
Alexis realized Leonel's true intention but chose not to call him out on it. Instead, she responded nonchalantly, "I'll inform my father. You can head straight to the house."
It had been a while since Leonel had seen Alexis, and he missed her deeply.
He couldn't resist asking tenderly, “So, you won't be home then? Are you planning to spend the day with Timmy, maybe playing tennis or going horse riding?"
