Chapter: 4584
It was undeniable that she had loved Raphael once. But that was already over eight long years ago.
Their breakup stemmed from a mutual lack of trust, a foundation too weak to withstand real-world challenges.
Now, she and Dylan faced a similar crisis.
Dylan was questioning her love for him.
Easing onto the accelerator, Olivia pulled away from the villa. Once she was a safe distance away, tears overwhelmed her.
The fear that she might lose control if she continued to drive in such a state gripped her, prompting her to pull over to the side of the road. Collapsing into the driver's seat, she surrendered to her emotions. Resting quietly against the backrest, Olivia's mind wandered back to the early days of her marriage with Dylan.
Unbeknownst to him, those were the happiest times of her life.
Now, he was forcing her to choose between him and Raphael.
It was a choice she found impossible. She suspected Dylan was using this demand as a pretext to drive her into Raphael's arms. By saying he'd give her two years, Dylan had actually made up his mind already.
Lifting her gaze to the sky, Olivia noticed fireworks bursting in the distance.
Unsure of the occasion, she sensed a lively celebration unfolding far from where she sat.
Gently dabbing at her tears, a profound sense of loneliness enveloped her, a feeling alien to her even in the past two years when everyone and everything kept reminding her that Dylan was gone.
Olivia's solitude was short-lived.
Leyla fell ill with a fever after catching a cold while playing in the yard.
Upon receiving the phone call, Olivia hurried to the hospital.
Thankfully, she had hired an experienced nanny who promptly escorted Leyla to the hospital. Although the antipyretic injection had temporarily alleviated the fever, the doctor advised them to remain vigilant as Leyla might experience a recurrence of the fever overnight.
In the transfusion room, Olivia took Leyla from the nanny's care.
The nanny apologized softly, “I'm terribly sorry, Mrs. Wright. I assure you, I'll exercise greater caution from now on."
Mrs. Wright...
Olivia was momentarily lost in thought at that title.
However, she quickly regained her composure and reassured the nanny, “Please don't blame yourself. Children falling ill from time to time is actually quite common."
The nanny was visibly relieved upon hearing Olivia's words.
With another half hour until the observation period concluded, Olivia cradled Leyla in her arms and settled onto a nearby bench.
The little girl had previously suffered from a severe fever, but now she nestled obediently in Olivia's arms, murmuring softly.
