Chapter: 4692
He fixed his eyes on Laura, smirking slightly.
Just as Edwin held her close and was about to kissed her, Laura interjected, “Edwin, I'm worried about Olivia!" She added in a hushed tone, “Dylan is abroad again!"
Edwin's expression darkened at the revelation. He dialed Olivia's number, but there was no answer. Frustrated, he called the nanny, who informed him that Olivia had taken Leyla to the preschool.
Hanging up, Edwin quickly put on his coat. "Something is definitely up. Call Dylan and find out exactly what happened. Tell him I don't give a damn if he never marries Olivia, but if anything happens to my sister, I'll make sure he pays for it!"
With that, Edwin dashed out the door, determined to find Olivia.
An hour later, Edwin received a call from Laura, her voice trembling.
"Olivia is pregnant, but Dylan doesn't believe the child is his because the doctor told him he's sterile after the accident. He thinks Olivia has gotten back together with Raphael."
Fury surged through Edwin, and he honked the horn furiously.
"Fuck that son of a bitch! How dare he accuse Olivia of such a thing? And even if the child were really Raphael's, why would we lie to him? Does he think the Evans family can't take care of the child without him being the father? Bastard!"
Hanging up the phone, Edwin continued his search aimlessly, stopping by every place Olivia frequented.
At last, Edwin found Olivia on the beach, where the wind was strong.
Olivia sat quietly, facing the sea and gazing into the distance, her thoughts inscrutable.
Edwin walked over and sat down beside her, wrapping his arm around her shoulder and letting her lean on him. “Why are you out here alone? Laura is so worried about you."
After a while, Olivia turned to him and asked, "You knew?"
Edwin nodded, his voice low and gentle. He stroked her hair and said, "If you want to keep the baby, just do it. Don't be afraid; you've got us."
Olivia didn't respond immediately. She looked out at the blue sea for a long time, and then glanced down at the blue diamond ring on her finger- a gift from Dylan.
She took it off and tossed it toward the water. The ring fell onto the beach, quickly becoming indistinguishable among the grains of sand.
“Look at that," Olivia said softly. "The ring seemed so special when I wore it, but now it's lost its brilliance in the sand. It'll probably sink and be forgotten. Maybe it meant nothing in the first place, being just a piece of stone in nature."
Edwin's heart ached for his sister.
He held her close and tried to lighten the mood. "Since when did you become such a philosopher?"
He said nothing more, just hugged her gently. They were close since childhood, and Edwin had always taken it upon himself to look after Olivia, offering her his unconditional support.
The wind continued to blow fiercely. After sitting on the beach for a while longer, Edwin helped Olivia to her feet and took her back.
Inside the car, Edwin gently asked Olivia if she had made up her mind about the baby.
After a moment of silence, Olivia answered softly, "I will give birth to the baby and raise it myself."
