Chapter: 4930
Luis responded, touched, “Dad, I really like Elva."
Everett sighed, saying, "But does she feel the same about you? What if you find the marriage doesn't turn out as you envisioned?"
“I'll do everything I can to resolve any issues," Luis assured him, trying to alleviate his father's concerns.
It was clear to Everett that Luis truly cared for Elva.
The marriage had then been discussed extensively between the Mendez and Fowler families.
This time, the fault lay with the Mendezes. They compensated Elva generously, with Luis’ parents providing shares and Cassius adding an unconditional five percent from Mendez Group's shares to Elva, valued at no less than 10 billion.
The decision stirred considerable debate within the Mendez family.
Other members felt slighted, having received nothing comparable at their own weddings, whereas Luis and his wife received lavish gifts.
Eventually, the tension reached a breaking point.
Cassius intervened, "These shares are originally Luis'. He only shared his own money with his wife, which is none of your business to begin with. Did you really expect Luis to share his fortune with you when you married? That's preposterous! Should Luis fund your wedding entirely, would your spouse be expected to be loyal to him instead?"
His frustration grew with each word.
Joann, worried about his health, hurriedly interjected, “Dad, please calm down."
Over his tea, Cassius remarked, “Their expectations are absurd. Without the efforts of Luis and Everett, they might well be homeless."
He rebuked them sharply and dismissed them from the room.
Luis, together with his parents, visited the Fowler residence to propose marriage, a gesture of genuine intent.
A servant entered and announced their arrival.
Upon hearing the news, Waylen turned to Rena and expressed his frustration, "Are they trying to pressure us into agreeing? We haven't consented yet!" Rena replied candidly, “Deep down, you've already accepted it."
Waylen countered, "But they're unaware of that. With the Mendez family causing such a commotion, any fallout could be quite problematic.”
Rena merely smiled in response.
She was confident the Mendez family would achieve their aims today.
