Chapter: 4939
He gave her a small smile and continued chatting with the men.

Elva glanced at him. He seemed to have drunk a lot since his face was a bit flushed, but it oddly suited him.

She knew her brothers were putting him through the paces and stayed out of it.

Instead, he served her favorite food while they chatted. He was still sober.

Leonel was astonished.

Luis had downed at least ten glasses of wine by now.

Edwin was equally surprised.

The meal lasted two hours. Finally, Luis got drunk. Edwin loosened his tie and sighed. "I can't outdrink him alone."

Of course, in his younger days, it might have been a different story.

Luis was in his prime, while they had already hit forty.

They couldn't compete with a man in his early thirties.

After lunch, everyone retired to their rooms for some much-needed rest.

A servant helped Luis to Elva's bedroom to rest as it wouldn't do for him to go home in that state.

Luis rarely got drunk and so he slept until dusk.

Waking up, he found himself on the sofa.

He recognized the scent in the air and knew where he was. He lay there lazily, not wanting to move.

He heard someone setting the table downstairs.

It seemed dinner was ready.

Having had too much at lunch, he couldn't handle more drinks.

Edwin, who could drink the most in the Fowler family, had gotten him drunk by pouring a few more glasses and drinking him under the table.
