Chapter: 1659
The moment she met Holden's eyes, Holden coldly asked, "Are you done with your theatrics?"

“Forgive me for what I did, Holden. It wasn't my intention to spew those words. I simply lost control of myself for a moment due to how sad I was. I just don't want Adele to not have a father," Sadie said sorrowfully.

However, the cold look on Holden's face didn't decrease in intensity at all. He began to pat Adele's back to comfort her and retorted through gritted teeth, “Who said that would happen? If you had any iota of love for your child, you would have been more careful of the words that come out of that mouth of yours. If you know what's best for you, change your behavior and try to think twice before you say something."

Stunned by the harshness of Holden's words, Sadie cowered and clenched her teeth, unable to think of anything to say.

Holden sneered at her and continued, "Just know that trying to use Adele as a tool to achieve your goal is nothing short of useless."

With that, he turned around and got into the car with Adele.

Scared that Holden would leave her behind, Sadie scrambled to her feet, wiped off her tears, and followed him into the car.

Meanwhile, in the villa, Ariana watched the car leave. But when she glanced at her son, she realized that the irritability she felt was nothing in comparison to her son's sadness.

With his eyes red from crying, Melon struggled to understand why Sadie had acted like that or the full meaning of what she had said.

Ariana drew Melon closer to her and comforted him.

Though Melon was smart beyond his years, that didn't change the fact that he was still a child. There was no way Sadie's words wouldn't have hurt him.

Melon embraced Ariana and whispered with tears streaming down his face, “Tell me, Mommy, am I the one who made Adele fatherless? I... I never meant to do such a horrible thing. Adele must be so sad right now."

Hearing this, Ariana's heart tightened in pain. She shook her head as she said softly, "You're mistaken, Melon. It's not like that."

Holden, as Melon's father, ought to have protected him more. Melon was a sweet kid who didn't deserve to suffer like this. The fact that she couldn't tell Melon that Holden was his father was simply unjust.

Angry at the whole situation, Ariana bit her Lips and then whispered to Melon, "That woman was simply spewing nonsense. What happened isn't your fault in any way. Believe me when I say that you're a cute boy who is loved by everyone.”

Hearing this, Melon nodded slowly in her arms and stopped crying.

Ariana wiped off the remnants of his tears from his face and patted him on the back, her heart breaking for him.

Meanwhile, Holden didn't spare Sadie a single glance as he drove. He simply looked down at Adele, who was still in his arms, to whisper soothing words to her ears now and then. Yet, it wasn't until they got home that Adele ceased crying. Even then, she kept her head on Holden's shoulder without saying anything.

Sadie, walking a few steps behind Holden, tried to explain herself, saying, "You've got to believe me, Holden, I didn't mean anything I said. I was just feeling extremely sad due to how absent you are from my life. The baby in me has been diagnosed as weak by the doctor, and I'm also weak. All I ask of you is to be considerate and caring of me."

"You feel weak?" Holden asked Sadie, looking at her expressionlessly.
