Chapter: 1707
Despite being an accomplished swimmer who had won several competitions, Adrian found himself struggling to stay afloat. The tide was high, and the waves were fierce that night, making it hard for him to come up for air after a wave.
The incident shocked everyone, leaving Jennifer terrified.
Thankfully, Holden acted swiftly and managed to rescue Adrian from the choppy waters.
Upon seeing Adrian safe, Jennifer felt her legs give way, and she leaned on Ariana for support.
The crew members quickly ushered Adrian into the medical van. Once they confirmed he was fine, they returned him to his room, with Jennifer quietly trailing behind him.
Soon, it was only Jennifer and Adrian in the room.
Adrian lay on the bed, sneezing now and then, overwhelmed by regret.
The room was ominously silent. He wanted to speak to Jennifer, having prepared what to say, but just as he opened his mouth, he heard Jennifer's soft sobs.
Adrian was shocked. Then, he panicked.
He remembered Jennifer as always being strong and rarely crying, but now, he was the reason for her tears.
He had never felt such regret. He hurried to console Jennifer.
“I'm okay, really. I didn't want any of that to happen. It's all my fault. Please, don't cry," he said.
He tried to calm Jennifer, who didn't say anything, simply crying.
When she finally stopped, she sniffed and managed to say, “You need to rest."
Then, she left the room.
Watching Jennifer walk away, Adrian was consumed by a profound sadness. He felt at a loss about what to do next.
He felt like he had never messed up so badly in his life. Completely deflated and his mind in chaos, he recognized the depth of his mistake for the first time.
Meanwhile, Ariana was outside Holden's door, holding a bowl of soup.
Holden had gotten drenched earlier, and now, he was feeling cold.
Ariana was worried about him.
