Chapter: 1785
Observing Sadie's collapse on the couch, Holden frowned and clicked his tongue in disappointment. He hadn't even begun his questioning, but Sadie had already fainted from the stress.
Holden returned to his seat, calling out sharply, "Shawn."
Shawn entered, unsurprised to see Sadie unconscious, and awaited his boss' instructions.
Holden rubbed his forehead and instructed, "Take Sadie away and arrange for a doctor to check on her."
Unknown to Holden, Sadie was feigning unconsciousness. Upon hearing Holden's instructions, she silently breathed a sigh of relief.
Continuing her act of unconsciousness, she felt a knot of anxiety tightening inside her.
What did Holden suspect? Had he uncovered her identity as Helen or Adele's identity?
No, he couldn't have been certain yet; otherwise, she would have been in serious trouble now, considering his temper.
However, even if Holden remained uncertain, his suspicions were evident. How should she navigate this situation?
Sadie believed she had to prevent Holden from discovering the truth.
Fortunately, she still had Adele as leverage; as long as she kept Adele close, Holden wouldn't be able to harm her.
Meanwhile, Holden's men were following Zayden. They maintained surveillance of him even after he departed from the Fredrick Group premises.
Already annoyed, Zayden erupted upon noticing their continued surveillance. “Why are you persistently tailing me? Fuck off! ALL of you!"
Holden's men remained composed. "Apologies, Mr. Zayden," one responded. "Mr. Fredrick instructed us to ensure your departure from Eleymond proceeds smoothly."
This triggered an explosive reaction from Zayden. He kicked a nearby car's tire, cursing, “Damn you, Holden!"
He couldn't fathom being manipulated in such a manner, particularly in public.
As Zayden dwelled on it, his anger intensified. Merely kicking the car tire didn't assuage his fury, prompting him to pound the car with his fist, breaking the windows. His hand was cut by the shattered glass, yet he barely registered the pain.
He unleashed his fury on the vehicle as if it embodied Holden, yearning to obliterate it completely.
A nearby child was frightened by Zayden's outburst and rushed to his mother, exclaiming, “Mommy, there's a crazy person."
Zayden noticed the child and glared fiercely at him, worsening the child's distress. The mother swiftly picked up her child, labeling Zayden as unstable, and hastened away.
