Chapter: 1833
Upon entering the BRD Group lobby, Sadie was halted before she could reach the elevator.
The receptionist, looking polite, informed her, "I apologize, but without an appointment, you cannot proceed upstairs."
Sadie's frustration was evident. It had only been a few days since the last time she had come here. How dare the receptionist deny her entry?
Frowning, Sadie said to the receptionist, “Don't you recognize me? I'm Sadie Pierre, Holden's fiancée. I need to see him."
The receptionist responded resignedly, “I know who you are, Miss Pierre, but Mr. Fredrick is currently unavailable to meet any visitor as he's occupied with urgent matters."
"Visitor? I'm more than just a visitor!" Sadie exclaimed, her frustration escalating. "I'm the mother of his child! We're family!"
Trying to bypass reception, Sadie was promptly halted. The receptionist said, “Apologies, Miss Pierre, but Mr. Fredrick is currently unavailable to see anyone."
Raising her voice, Sadie said, "I'm not just anyone! I want to see Adele! I need to see my daughter!"
Recognizing Sadie's determination and being mindful of her pregnancy, the receptionist refrained from pressing further and promptly summoned Devin to address the matter.
Devin arrived shortly, maintaining respect as he attempted to explain, “Miss Pierre, Mr. Fredrick is currently occupied. He'll contact you if he needs you. It's best for you to return home now and prioritize your well-being; getting upset isn't beneficial to your health."
However, Sadie remained adamant. "Even if Holden won't meet me, can't I at least see Adele? I miss her so much. I want to see her."
Devin, thinking of Sadie's previous abuse toward Adele, fought to remain composed. His expression was cold as he said, “Adele is in good hands with Mr. Fredrick. Should she wish to see you, we'll inform you."
“But now I'm the one who wants to see her. Can't I be allowed upstairs?" Sadie said with a bitter edge to her tone.
Devin replied firmly, "Mr. Fredrick is occupied. Surely, you wouldn't want to upset him, right?"
"I..." Sadie began to object, but Devin interjected, “Would you rather return to the hospital or your residence? I can arrange transportation."
Frustrated by the lack of progress, Sadie stomped her foot in anger and said, "Forget it; I'll leave on my own."
Then, she stormed out.
Upon leaving the building, Sadie spotted Holden and Ariana enjoying themselves with two children at a nearby dessert shop, a picture-perfect family scene that was like a slap in the face for her.
It turned out Holden was just busy spending time with Ariana.
Just as Sadie was about to approach them, her phone rang.
