Chapter: 1856
Once Ariana finished her work, she headed outside to join the children.
In the garden, she taught Adele and Melon how to plant seeds in the pots, press the soil down, and water them.
After they had planted several pots, Ariana took the children inside to wash their hands.
Returning outside, they found that Devin had set out some dessert for them.
Ariana took a seat and encouraged Devin to join them. “Don't just stand there, Devin. Come sit and relax with us for a while," she said with a welcoming smile. Devin sat down, and Ariana poured him some coffee and urged the kids to dig into their dessert.
Devin gazed affectionately at the newly planted flowers and remarked, "Next year, these will bloom beautifully, and you, Miss Edwards, will be able to enjoy making flower tea right here in the garden with the kids."
Ariana chuckled softly. "Really?"
Devin replied, “Of course. You're welcome to use anything in the house whenever you Like.”
Ariana paused, sensing the deeper meaning in Devin's words-she was becoming part of the family. She simply smiled in response.
Devin continued, "The house has really come to life since you arrived, Miss Edwards. It used to feel a bit too cold before."
Noticing Ariana's reflective expression, Devin said, "Ever since Mr. Fredrick lost his memory, I haven't seen him this cheerful in a long time. It's all thanks to you. This house has stood the test of time, and I'm confident it will continue to flourish and be filled with happiness for many more years."
Ariana understood Devin was suggesting a lasting future for Holden and her, but with Sadie’s issues still hanging in the balance, she didn't feel like it.
She took a sip of her coffee and replied, "The future is uncertain. Let's just wait and see."
As the sun began to set, Ariana was busy getting her kids ready for the harvest dinner at Rodney's farm.
Melon got to wear a sleek suit, looking sharp. He wanted a bow tie, so Ariana added one to complete his outfit.
For Adele, Ariana had chosen a beautiful white dress with a puffy skirt, sprinkled with tiny glittering gems. To match, she added a sparkling hair clip to Adele's hair.
All dressed up, Melon and Adele looked like they belonged in a fairytale.
Ariana couldn't help but cover them with kisses, leaving big red lipstick marks on their cheeks.
Adele blinked, looking puzzled, like she wasn't sure what had just happened.
Melon, on the other hand, was totally fine with it, even sticking his cheek out for more kisses. He helped wipe off the lipstick marks on Adele with his sleeve like a little gentleman.
