Chapter: 1868
Sonia paused, her feelings a mix of frustration and worry. She was eager to find the person responsible for Ariana's car accident.
Clenching her jaw, Sonia said, "I'm certain it's Sadie. Even if we can't prove it right now, we should keep an eye on her. If she's really the one who tampered with the car, I'll see to it that she faces the consequences."
“Let's not rush our judgment. At the moment, Sadie is only a suspect. We need more solid proof to confirm anything," Adrian replied.
Suddenly, a voice from behind them chimed in, "Whether it's Sadie or someone else, we should go and find out."
Sonia and Adrian turned to see Holden, who had already descended the stairs.
Holden's face was still a bit pale. He had clearly just risen from sleep.
"You woke up already? Maybe you'd better rest a bit more; we can handle this," Adrian proposed, his voice laced with concern.
"I'm fine," Holden replied curtly, before making his way out alongside Devin.
“I'll go with you!" Sonia exclaimed, eager to join.
Mitchel blocked her path, saying, “I'll go. Melon really needs you here; stay and look after him and Adele."
He then turned to Adrian. "You should also stay here with Sonia. I'll accompany Holden. We'll be fine."
On the road, Holden sat in the car, his eyes tightly closed and his brow furrowed with worry. His emotions were scattered, a clear sign of his distress.
Just the thought of Ariana possibly being dead was driving him to the edge, his mind tense and aching from the relentless thoughts of vengeance.
He questioned himself internally. Why hadn't he gone with Ariana when she asked? Why had he chosen to go to Mistlyn instead? Why hadn't he accompanied her?
The image of Ariana, scared in the car that was out of control, trying to protect the kids, was too much to bear.
Why hadn't he been there when she needed him the most?
Why hadn't he been by her side in her final moments? Why had he let her die alone and scared?
These thoughts haunted Holden, causing a headache so severe that it almost numbed him. He hadn't eaten anything, yet there was a persistent bitter taste in his mouth.
Mitchel, noticing something was wrong with Holden due to his medical training, softly called out, "Holden."
Holden opened his eyes and gave Mitchel a cold stare as if to question what was wrong.
