Chapter: 1896
Ariana's anger flared. She smashed the camera with a punch and, overtaken by fury, flung a book from the table directly at it.
The camera shattered with a loud crack as the book struck it.
Watching the pieces scatter, Ariana's anger began to ebb. She sighed deeply and collapsed onto the couch.
Just then, the Landline rang, signaling, no doubt, another call from that man. Gritting her teeth, Ariana eyed the phone and hesitantly picked it up after a few seconds.
Bennett's smooth, mocking voice came as soon as she answered. "You're quite the fiery one. Normally, such outbursts could spell trouble, but I'll overlook this one. Try to be a bit gentler, darling. My patience could run thin. A touch of docility might benefit you."
Her fury undiminished, Ariana let out a scornful Laugh. "Oh, really? You abducted me and left me in the arena before. Now, you expect me to be gentle?"
Her voice grew louder with each word, fueled by thoughts of the man orchestrating her ordeal. She said, "Send Zayden here. I demand a face-to-face meeting! If death is my fate, I want to face it knowing why. I'm taking someone with me! Let Zayden face me!"
Since her return from that gruesome arena, Ariana's determination had only strengthened.
Having witnessed such carnage and terror, what more was there to fear?
Confronting death boldly was the only path left. Alone and unaided, she steeled herself for a direct confrontation, determined not to perish without resisting.
There was a brief silence on the line, then a low chuckle. "Forget it," Bennett said.
Confused, Ariana was about to demand an explanation when Bennett continued, "Since you're so keen on leaving, perhaps I should offer you a chance to escape."
"Really?" Ariana asked, wary of him backtracking.
“Listen to me first," Bennett said. "You are in a castle, and indeed, there is a way out. It's cleverly hidden, and among the many doors here, one leads to freedom. If you can find that door, you're free to go."
Ariana, skeptical, raised an eyebrow. “Is it really that simple?" It seemed feasible to just test each door until she found the right one if this was the case.
Bennett's laughter echoed in her ear. “Of course not. Beyond those doors, apart from the exit, you might encounter a few surprises, perhaps some wild beasts.”
He teased in a light tone, “Imagine, if you open a door and a beast leaps out and bites your neck, well, that's just bad luck."
Ariana scoffed coldly, knowing he was up to no good.
"Alright." The voice on the end of the Line sounded amused. “Let's begin now. You have one hour to locate the exit. Fail, and you'll remain trapped here."
Bennett ended the call, and Ariana jumped into action immediately, driven by the determination to find a way out. Regardless of whether Bennett's words were true, she was prepared to seize any opportunity to escape.
