Chapter: 1917
When Maxwell saw Sonia crying, he was concerned and confused at the same time. He thought he had made her cry, so he hurriedly said, "I didn't mean to upset you about work. I only want to let you know that we really can't do it without you."
Sonia was fuming inside. She wanted to yell at him, but she still couldn't find her voice. She was already terrified, but he was still talking about work. Didn't he know the gravity of her situation? If she was disabled, how could she still do her job?
Sonia cried even harder.
Maxwell became more flustered. He could no longer speak coherently.
He could only pace back and forth in front of Sonia's hospital bed, not knowing what to do.
At that moment, Sarah and Aziel entered the ward. As soon as she saw Sonia crying, Sarah hurried over and asked anxiously, “What's wrong? Are you in pain?"
Still, Sonia couldn't say a word. Sarah quickly handed her a glass of warm water. Sonia took a sip and finally managed to say, "Am I crippled? Why can't I feel my Legs?"
Sarah couldn't help but feel resigned by Sonia's concern. She said, "No need to worry, Sonia. Your legs are fine. Your grogginess is simply due to prolonged rest after surgery. The medications and anesthetics used were for pain relief. We just conducted an emergency check, and the drugs are still in your system, causing temporary numbness."
Sarah's explanation eased Sonia's mind, clearing her thoughts.
But then, Sonia suddenly remembered something and asked anxiously, “Wait, you mentioned I've been here a while. What about Ariana? Have you found her? She's alive, isn't she?"
The room's atmosphere tensed immediately. Everyone exchanged grave glances and shook their heads.
Sarah sighed heavily before replying, “Holden's team is actively searching for Ariana. They suspect Zayden's people might have taken her to Conata."
“Conata? The place is too dangerous!" Sonia's voice spiked with panic.
Noticing Sonia's distress, Sarah swiftly attempted to comfort her.
“Hey, Sonia, take a deep breath. The Fredrick family is giving their all to locate Ariana. Let's keep a positive outlook. We're all looking for her. Remember, good things happen to good people, right? You just focus on getting better here. I'll bring Melon to come visit you soon."
“Melon's fine, right?" Sonia inquired, her concern Lingering.
“He's doing well," Sarah reassured Sonia. “He's been visiting you daily."
Sonia felt a bit more relieved at the news and eased back into her bed.
Meanwhile, in a training camp in Conata.
Ariana aggressively punched a sandbag, channeling her frustration and fury.
