Chapter: 1978
Before he could elaborate, explosions tore through the convoy trailing them. Holden's crew was decimated in a flash.
“When you're a frequent target like me, you make preparations beforehand," Bennett explained nonchalantly.
Disregarding the knife lodged in his arm, Bennett abruptly lunged forward, wielding a pen from his pocket as a weapon against Adrian.
A fierce fight between Adrian and Bennett soon ensued in the backseat.
Meanwhile, Holden didn't slow down the car; explosions continued to echo behind them.
“We're likely navigating a minefield. We must escape quickly, Adrian. Control him!" he said.
Faced with an endless mountainous path ahead and dwindling fuel, Holden acted swiftly. He turned the steering wheel, veering the vehicle off-road and into the forest nearby.
The vehicle raced down the highway, with Bennett and Adrian locked in a struggle in the backseat.
Despite Bennett's wound, the cramped conditions and the bumpy ride made neither Adrian nor Bennett able to have the upper hand.
Holden, concentrating on stabilizing the vehicle, called out, "Be cautious, Adrian! If necessary, throw him out of the car!"
"Understood," Adrian replied, continuing to fight Bennett.
Bennett was vigilant. Noticing the surroundings outside the window, an idea struck him.
Swiftly devising a strategy, he pretended intense agony from his injury to catch Adrian by surprise. The plan succeeded-Adrian paused in his actions.
Seizing the opportunity as the car was on a downhill, Bennett made a sudden move, grabbing the steering wheel with the intent to ram the car into a rock formation.
Holden was momentarily caught off guard by the abrupt action, but he swiftly intervened to thwart Bennett's attempt. Adrian also joined the effort to restrain Bennett. But since this was Bennett's car, he was more familiar with it. He quickly unlocked the car, wanting to open the door to jump out.
But he was restrained firmly by Holden and Adrian. By the time he managed to break free, it was too late for him to jump.
The vehicle spiraled uncontrollably and exploded.
In the aftermath of the explosion, nothing but smoke and debris lingered.
Meanwhile, Ariana regained consciousness in the speeding vehicle, disoriented yet swiftly recalling what had happened. Scanning her surroundings, she realized Holden was absent.
At that moment, the car was speeding.
