Chapter: 2005
Bennett believed Holden was truly lucky. A woman cherished him deeply.
Even after a car accident and tumbling off a cliff, Holden had miraculously survived without severe injuries.
"Can't believe you're still alive," remarked Bennett, taken aback for a moment. He scanned the area behind Holden for any trace of Adrian but found none.
He taunted, "So, where's your friend? Don't tell me he didn't survive."
Bennett's smirk widened as he watched Holden's expression grow dark.
Without uttering a word, Holden lunged at Bennett.
Though handicapped by a leg injury, Bennett, well-trained, managed to defend himself adequately. Holden gained the upper hand but failed to subdue Bennett completely.
“Struck a nerve, did 1? Seems like your friend is indeed gone. It's a harsh fate, dying to save your wife," Bennett said as they traded punches.
"How dare you say that?" Holden retorted, aiming a kick at Bennett's head. "You couldn't possibly understand what Adrian and I shared. You're nothing but a loner, surrounded by dogs rather than people. You reign as king of stray dogs."
Bennett was unruffled by Holden's words. But his provocation intensified Holden's blows.
Each strike from Holden was delivered with more intensity now.
Eventually, Bennett was pinned to the ground by Holden.
Their gazes locked, charged with shared animosity. It became apparent that one of them would die here.
With Bennett subdued, Holden targeted Bennett's injuries more fiercely with his kicks, ensuring Bennett remained defenseless.
Gritting his teeth, he declared, "I intended to spare you, but you just can't seem to know when to stop..."
His thoughts wandered to Ariana-how they had found each other again only for her to be ripped away by this ordeal.
And Adrian, his best friend, as precious to him as Ariana and his children, had sacrificed everything to come here, only to disappear.
He didn't know if Adrian was still alive or not.
Clenching his fists, Holden pushed the thought from his mind.
Since waking up, he had been frantically searching for Adrian, but all his efforts were in vain.
