A flash of disappointment crossed Ariana's eyes.

She adamantly refused to become a subject of experiments in some mad scientist's sinister plans.

She had to escape to see Holden again.

Adrian seemed to harbor the same resolve. “Let me give it a try. Maybe Luck is on our side today," he suggested with a hint of hope.

Ariana nodded, and Adrian approached the keypad, his fingers dancing across the keys with urgency.

Each beep escalated Ariana's anxiety, making her heart race.

When Adrian finally pressed the enter key, a shrill alarm shattered the tense silence.

The sound was Like an ominous omen, signaling their apparent failure and threatening to doom them to a grim fate.

Both Ariana and Adrian recoiled at the alarm, but Adrian was quick to respond. He shouted over the relentless noise to Ariana, "This is terrible! That alarm will surely draw the scientist here in no time. We need to find a hiding place now!"

Ariana and Adrian were crouched behind a large potted plant, half-expecting the loud alarm to summon the mad scientist or activate some sort of weapon.

However, nothing happened, even after the alarm ceased. Adrian and Ariana remained in their hiding spot, cautious of the possibility that the scientist might enter at any moment.

After a significant wait with no appearance of the scientist, they allowed themselves to relax slightly.

"That was way too close. I thought we were done for," Adrian said, wiping sweat from his forehead.

While Adrian appeared to completely lower his guard, Ariana still seemed worried. She was frowning at the now silent alarm.

“What's wrong?" Adrian asked, noticing her expression.

"It's odd," Ariana replied, her brows furrowed as she pointed at the alarm. "Where is that man? Why didn't he respond? That alarm was deafening; unless he's deaf, he should've heard it anywhere in this metal house."

Adrian's face grew serious upon seeing Ariana's concerned look. “I don't know much about him. I only saw him briefly when he caught me last night."

A nagging worry began to creep up on Ariana.
