Chapter: 2049
Bennett went to check on Adrian, who was throwing up a lot on the floor now.
Bennett grimaced, the stench turning his stomach. He clamped his hand over his nose and thumped Adrian on the back, urging, "Come on, get it out!"
After a while, Adrian finally stopped. To everyone's surprise, Adrian had sobered up after vomiting.
Seeing this, Holden exhaled a breath of relief, but Bennett remained frozen, staring at his hand in disbelief. He couldn't believe his slap had so much impact.
"If I'd known, I would have slapped Moss," Bennett muttered to himself.
Holden asked Adrian, “Are you okay? How are you feeling now?"
“I feel fine. I just have a headache," Adrian replied, massaging his temples. “Wait... Where's Ariana?"
A flicker of rage ignited in Holden's eyes at the mention of Ariana.
He swiftly filled Adrian in on Ariana's abduction. The three of them quickly took action, racing towards the sixth-floor basement to save Ariana.
But upon arrival, a new obstacle materialized. They couldn't get into the ice chamber now.
Through the glass window, they saw Moss' hunched back as he concocted a vile liquid. Ariana lay unconscious on the metal bed before him.
Holden's composure shattered. He slammed his elbow repeatedly against the glass, his voice hoarse with fury. “Moss! Stop this! Let her go!”
In a desperate act, he snatched the gun from Bennett and opened fire, but it was futile.
The window was unscathed.
Moss, oblivious to Holden's frantic attempts, continued his work.
With a practiced flick of his wrist, he plunged the syringe into Ariana's arm. As Moss had expected, Ariana's body convulsed, and her pale face contorted in agony.
A twisted smile played on Moss' lips, his eyes fixed on the ice coffin as if his beloved one would revive at any moment.
Outside, Holden pounded his fists against the window, his eyes red with fury as he witnessed Ariana's suffering, her blood being drained.
But he was unable to do anything.
Holden was plunged into despair.
