Chapter: 2071
Despite the late hour, nearly 11 P.M., Rodney rushed over from the farm with Catalina and Judy upon learning of the situation.
They entered Ariana's room to find her lying in bed, unconscious, which brought tears to their eyes.
“What happened?" Rodney asked, exhaling deeply as he turned to Holden.
In the lounge.
Holden and Rodney had a private conversation.
Rodney discerned the troubled look on Holden's face and probed for answers. Then, Holden said, "Mr. Chadwick, are you familiar with Moss Valdez?"
"Moss Valdez?" Rodney's expression shifted from surprise to a tinge of resentment. "Is he still alive? I was under the impression he had passed away more than two decades ago."
“So you know him?" Holden quickly followed up, eager to delve deeper.
A stern look crossed Rodney's face as his voice was filled with a trace of anger. “Absolutely. Moss orchestrated the conspiracy that resulted in my son being murdered by his adversaries."
Holden fell silent, lost in thought.
It appeared that Moss’ previous assertions were indeed valid; he had connections to the Chadwick family.
“Why are you mentioning this now?" Rodney asked, his eyes narrowing in confusion.
Holden, sidestepping the question, pressed further. "Do you remember the specific events from back then? I'm attempting to understand the entire narrative involving Amiri, Moss, and Emilia."
Bypassing the complex dynamics of their relationships, Rodney provided a clear account of the past occurrences. Holden discovered that Moss had dispatched three assassins to eliminate Amiri. When Emilia had become aware of that, she had hastened to alert Amiri.
Amidst the chaos, one assassin had fired a shot, and Emilia, shielding Amiri, had been fatally wounded by a bullet to the heart, dying from the substantial blood loss.
Despite Emilia's sacrifice, Amiri had also been killed, and the fate of their infant child had been left in uncertainty, either deceased or abducted. By the time the Chadwick family had reached the scene, they could only find the bodies of Emilia and Amiri. They had transported the bodies back to Eleymond, but along the way, the surveillance had been compromised, the guards had been attacked, and Emilia's body had mysteriously vanished.
As Rodney relayed these tragic events with evident anger, Holden was struck by a memory of seeing Emilia's body at the metal house.
It seemed that Moss was the one who had taken Emilia's body.
When Holden thought of this, Rodney also said, "I thought Moss was behind it at the time."
Rodney admitted with a tone of regret, “But my grief was so overwhelming that I couldn't pursue the whereabouts of Emilia's body at the time. By the time I felt ready to investigate, Moss had disappeared without leaving any clues, and I hadn't heard anything about him for over twenty years. I presumed he was dead."
