Chapter: 2072
"Not only that, Moss is attempting to resurrect Emilia," Holden said with a serious expression.
"What?" Rodney was taken aback and then questioned, "How did you come to know this? Is Moss also entangled with the Fredrick family somehow?"
Holden proceeded to detail everything that had transpired at the metal house. He described how Moss had employed advanced technology to preserve Emilia's body and had been kidnapping people for the past two decades to use them as experimental subjects. His grand scheme was to infuse their fresh blood into Emilia's body in hopes of reviving her.
Rodney, though accustomed to hearing extraordinary tales, found this particularly startling.
"Absurd!" he exclaimed, slamming his hand on the table. "Moss has lost his mind. It's been over twenty years; how can he still believe he can bring Emilia back to life now?"
After more than twenty years, merely hearing Moss' name filled Rodney with an overwhelming surge of hatred and fury.
"Moss sent his goons after my son. If not for him, I wouldn't have lost my son, ensnared in this relentless nightmare of grief," Rodney stated. "This deep-seated grudge against Moss, it's something our Chadwick family will carry forever."
Observing Rodney's angry demeanor, it was evident to Holden that Rodney had been longing for an opportunity to confront Moss. Yet, Moss had vanished for over two decades, leaving Rodney with no one to face. Now, learning that Moss was still alive, Rodney's resolve to exact revenge seemed to intensify.
Holden paused momentarily, lost in thought.
As the pieces began to fall into place, it seemed increasingly plausible that Moss had been speaking the truth, including his claim that Ariana wasn't the Edwards family's daughter but rather the daughter of Emilia and...
Holden felt conflicted about revealing Ariana's true identity to Rodney. He was unsure if Rodney comprehended the full complexity of the situation.
Should Moss' assertions prove accurate and Ariana truly be his daughter, would Rodney misdirect his wrath toward Ariana?
Holden had faith in Rodney's character, yet given that Moss had murdered Amiri, there remained a possibility that Rodney could act rashly, despite knowing the child's innocence.
But what if Moss' narrative was not the truth?
Though Holden was inclined to trust Moss had told him the truth, he still harbored reservations. Given Moss' extreme obsession with Emilia, it wasn't implausible for him to fabricate being the father of Emilia's child amidst his delusion.
As Holden pondered these possibilities, Rodney said, "I need to know where Moss is."
Regaining his focus, Holden looked at Rodney and replied, "There was an explosion at the metal house just before I lost consciousness, so it's uncertain if Moss survived. I've already dispatched people to investigate."
After a pause, he added reassuringly, “Don't worry. As soon as there is an update on Moss, you'll be the first to know."
“Thanks," responded Rodney, his nod reflecting his gratitude.
Then, Holden shifted the conversation to inquire about Rodney's granddaughter from two decades ago, closely observing Rodney's reaction.
