Chapter: 1001
“I didn't. Does that matter?" Maria asked back.
Claire frowned in worry.
They were going to do some table reading and go through their lines with the director, and both called for every actor to have their own copy of the script.
Without a doubt, Francis would get mad at Maria for not bringing hers.
“We can share my copy, but we have to be careful. It'll be bad if Mr. Jackson catches us," Claire whispered.
Maria stared at her for a moment before nodding in understanding.
She thought for a while, and then patted Claire on the head.
“Thank you for your kindness," she said.
Claire's frown deepened. Maria's calmness puzzled her.
Another ten minutes passed, but Francis had yet to show up.
With nothing else to do, the cast focused their attention on their phones.
“Oh my God, what is this? Maria, look at this. You're in trouble!" Claire whisper-shouted while gaping at her phone.
Despite the shock, she managed to keep her voice down because she did not want the others to hear her.
She handed her phone to Maria to let the other woman read the malicious post that caught her eye.
“Maria has flatly refused to take any direction from the director. She attended the table-read without a script!"
A newly registered account posted a tweet about Maria being unprofessional on the set of Female Military Counsellor. Of course, the netizens doubted the authenticity of the claim because it came from an unverified account.
That was the case until a photo was posted next. Looking at it, it was obvious that it was taken by someone who was in the same room as the lead cast.
In the photo, everyone was holding a script except Maria.
It was clear that the owner of the unverified account had ill intentions against her.
“This is bad! What are we going to do?" Claire fretted.
They did not know who took the photo. It could be one of the actors sitting on the back or their assistants.
The film set had just been built. Therefore, security cameras had not been installed yet. It was almost impossible to find out who took the photo.
At this rate, Maria would have to give the public a reasonable explanation for her behaviour, or else she was done for.
Claire groaned, her worry increasing with each passing second.
