Chapter: 1043
He had Long been a fan of martial arts warriors and held them in high regard.
The picture unfolding before him, however, was slowly making him reconsider this opinion. At the end of the day, those masters were just like ordinary people, after all.
Francis took a closer look, and was surprised yet again to see bruises on Grover's face. From what he could tell, it appeared that the giant man had also dislocated his shoulders. He couldn't seem to move his arms.
Francis never expected a Level two warrior to be beaten so severely. He struggled to make sense of it, even as he continued to stare at Grover. He couldn't help but wonder who had done this.
The first person to come to mind was, of course, Jack.
But Francis soon learned that his assumption was wrong.
"You actually didn't have to do this yourself, Miss Jenkins," Jack suddenly said. "It was a trivial matter, so you should have just left it to me. What a shame to find that a level two warrior has resorted to being a thug for hire."
Francis froze in shock.
In his mind, Maria was the Last person who would do something Like this. It had never occurred to him that she was capable of defeating a level two warrior.
As for Grover, he was already feeling sullen about the whole ordeal. But after hearing Jack's remark, a wave of shame swept over him.
Still, he wasn't brave enough to confront Jack about his cruel words, especially not after finding out that the latter was a level four warrior. Grover was no match for someone with such power and speed.
Jack, on the other hand, did not feel Like he had said something wrong.
He had been hired by the Wilson family as a chauffeur back when he was a level two warrior.
Despite his skills, he had never misbehaved. In contrast, Grover had dared to pick on Maria with his paltry level two abilities. He had practically dug his own grave.
“Maria, just what is happening? Are you all right?"
Claire had been standing at the sidelines this entire time. She was ignorant in the ways of ancient martial arts, and could only watch with worry.
She couldn't even comprehend what the others were talking about.
Maria tilted her head to the side and explained. "This guy is a street gangster who's constantly been bullying other people. He‘s been itching for a fight, even though he doesn't possess any significant talent in ancient martial arts. I just taught him a lesson, that's all. Are you familiar with the belt ranking system in karate? The tier system in ancient martial arts is similar to it."
Claire instantly understood what Maria meant. She nodded and said, "I think I got it now. I didn't expect that you would be skilled in martial arts."
“Well, I do know a Little bit about it," Maria pointed out. "I grew up in a village in the outskirts. There was an old man who was highly skilled in ancient martial arts, and I spent my early years learning various fighting techniques from him.”
As they listened to her, the others bore expressions that ranged from surprise to dread, to fear, and finally, reverence.
Jack was gazing at Maria with undisguised admiration. The idea of living in such a village and learning from a peerless master was fascinating to him.
Meanwhile, Grover blubbered and looked terrified. There were very few in the world of ancient martial arts who could rival Maria's skills. Her teacher was probably one of the most powerful masters in existence.
He had already gone and offended Maria. If push came to shove, he just might suffer the wrath of her teacher.
