Chapter: 1044
Grover's head was reeling with the implications of everything he had just discovered. He made a silent vow to only live in cities and to stay clear of any remote villages from now on in case he accidentally ran into Maria's teacher somewhere.
“Actually, Maria, I came over to tell you something. Jessie just called."
Francis relayed the details exactly as they had transpired. When he was done, Maria turned to Grover and looked at him, her eyes pensive.
Feeling a chill run down his spine, Grover rushed to explain the matter. "I knew it was wrong, but I had very little choice, Miss Jenkins. Jessie forced me to make trouble with you. I am really sorry. I promise you, it will not happen again. Please forgive me this one time."
His eyes were wide with pleading.
Maria Looked at him up and down, contemplating the circumstances. After thinking about it for a while, she came up with an idea.
“Mr. Jackson, do you need an extra hand at the set?
He can work for you without pay."
Free labor? Francis looked first at Maria and then back at Grover whose arms were dislocated.
“Well, we're indeed short of one stunt double..." Francis said after pondering for a while.
Jessie had injured the stunt double filming with her last time. Ever since that, Maria had been doing those stunt scenes herself.
Despite Maria's obvious skills in martial arts, Francis did not consider Maria as a stunt actor. He still wanted to find a replacement as he thought it was dangerous for Maria to continue shooting these scenes in person.
It would have been good if he had found a suitable replacement... Francis was sure that Grover would quickly learn the skills required for the shoot, particularly because he was a level two martial artist.
What Francis wasn't sure of, however, was whether he could trust Grover.
While Francis was looking at him, Grover was very animated.
“Pick me, please! I can do it! These fancy moves... I mean, these moves in an action movie are a piece of cake to learn. It will not take me long to master them!"
Grover was being polite because of Maria's presence.
He knew that Maria could easily defeat him even though he was a level two ancient martial arts master. Even Maria's driver was a level four master!
What level was Maria? Grover wondered.
He didn't like this at all.
How had there come to be such an accomplished martial arts practitioner in Sheffield?
Grover took the money from someone, and it was his task to try and disable Maria.
According to the rules, if he was defeated by Maria instead, she wouldn't let him go easily.
It had taken him many years of practice to get to where he was today. He didn't want to be disabled and lose all his power.
