Chapter: 1092
Maria took the microphone with a pout and passed it down to Lyman.
“Ahem!"
Lyman cleared his throat and forced a smile.
“Uh, I... a question have... No! I mean... I have a question."
Lyman was too nervous to speak clearly.
Shera and the other cast members were trying not to laugh outwardly. Lyman was amusing them as always.
Lyman was a happy-go-lucky type so this didn't bother him.
As the snickering ceased, Lyman continued, "Excuse me, I want to ask if there are aliens in the world?"
It was obvious to all present that Lyman had not received a high level of education.
After all that time thinking of a suitable question, this was what he had finally come up with!
The other guests found Lyman's question childish, so much so that they almost burst out Laughing.
But after giving it some thought, they, too, found themselves feeling curious about the subject.
As vast as the universe was, the planet Earth was nothing more than a drop in the ocean. What were the odds that other intelligent Life forms existed apart from humans?
“Good question."
The scholar smiled and nodded in approval. He Looked quite pleased with Lyman’s query.
But he turned serious as soon as he took the microphone. "Before we tackle this question, I first need to mention a couple of key points. First, no one in the vast field of science has ever publicly declared the successful discovery of any alien civilizations. But at the same time, and this is my second point, no official statements had ever been issued that denies the existence of other intelligent life forms, either."
A hush fell over the small audience as they pondered the implications of the scholar's words.
Thankfully, he didn't keep them in suspense for long. He smiled and continued, “Based on these ideas, we can reach an obvious conclusion: The human race-throughout history-has never given up on the search for alien civilizations."
The scholar did not give a definitive answer to the question of the aliens' existence. Nor did he acknowledge the various conspiracy theories that plagued the subject.
Instead, he gave the answer that would please the majority—that humans were inclined to believe that they were not alone in the universe.
“Thank you, sir."
Lyman was clever enough to understand that the scholar was done with his question.
Some may not find the latter's response satisfactory, but Lyman himself did not wish to pursue the topic any further.
After all, these scholars present were all well-respected authorities in the world of science. They had to be careful not to make things unnecessarily difficult for them.
