Chapter: 1119
“Why would Vivian ask Maria about that?" Julie huffed indignantly. "Is she purposely trying to embarrass Maria?”

She might not know much about the goings-on in the entertainment industry, but she knew her daughter well enough to see through her schemes.

“Don't worry," Anthony said beside her.

“Her little tricks won't work on Maria."

Julie allowed herself to feel relieved when she heard this.

After yesterday's events, she had learned to trust Anthony implicitly, especially when it came to Maria.

The show proceeded with Maria thoroughly evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of both universities.

It was apparent that, except for Darren, all of the show's guests were taken aback by Maria's words.

Everyone on set was aware that she had never attended college. How was she able to give such a detailed assessment, and of the science departments, no less?

Where could she have possibly obtained the information?

In truth, Darren had backed Maria's remarks using his own experience as a student of Sheffield University's Mathematics and Science School.

However, the director had deliberately cut off this part during the editing process.

As a result, the audience saw further reason to call out Maria for being presumptuous. Or so they thought.

“Honestly, I was just starting to like Maria after yesterday's second broadcast, but she comes off as a little arrogant, don't you think?"

“Speaking as a graduate of an elite university myself, it's a very ignorant move for someone who doesn't even attend the two universities to comment on the institutions' competence so casually."

“Right, right? We were taught since we were young to never comment on things that are beyond our understanding. Maria didn't even attend community college. For her to say those things with such confidence is utterly absurd!"

Thankfully, aside from those who mocked Maria online, some also joined the discussion and spoke up for her.

“Hi, I am a sophomore in Sheffield University's Mathematics and Science School. I just want to say that everything that Maria said is more or less accurate. What I find strange is that even I, a current student here, didn't know so much about the other schools. Yet Maria spoke as if she had actually studied here."

“I'm taking my postgraduate degree majored in engineering in Broome University. Maria claimed that the core research project of our school is five years behind that of Sheffield University. I was doubtful about this, so I verified it with my mentor, and guess what-it's true! Just imagine my shock when I heard that!"

Still, the haters prevailed, owing mainly to their numbers.

As the broadcast continued, so did their criticism of Maria.

Julie didn't like this development. She sneaked a glance at Anthony, hoping that he would do something to defend Maria.

But the man only kept playing on his red phone, Looking unbothered by the public's persecution of his fiancee.

Julie opened her mouth to say something, only to close it back again in the next second. She didn't know what to even say in this situation. Anthony finally noticed her distress.
