Chapter: 1125
They hadn‘t even discussed anything prior to shooting. They had somehow just acted as one in bullying the newcomer, Maria.
Who would have thought that this newbie, who didn't even seem to have much of a fan base yet, nor a portfolio to speak of, would actually turn out to be someone none of them could afford to offend?
“I'LL give Maria a call and offer our apologies," the director muttered bitterly.
The third part of the seventh episode had already been edited and was set to air according to schedule tomorrow, but that was obviously out of the question now.
Without wasting another second, the director took out his phone and dialed Maria's number. The call connected after several beeps.
“Ah, hello. Is this Maria? I'm the director of My College Life. I was hoping to—"
"She is sleeping. What do you need?"
The director's words died in his throat. He wasn't expecting a man to answer Maria's phone. The voice that greeted him was calm and pleasant, and had a soothing tone that could give a professional radio broadcaster a run for his money.
“Well, who am I talking to, then?"
The director was a pompous man in nature.
The moment he registered that he wasn't speaking to Maria, his usual demeanor seeped right back in. In fact, he was seconds away from ordering the man to wake Maria up so that he could talk to her.
“I am the man who hacked into your broadcast system," Anthony replied nonchalantly.
A short gasp came out of the director's mouth as his jaw hung wide open. He was so shocked that he almost dropped his phone.
“What did you say?! You- So, it's you! Sorry I didn't know After his initial rage, the director was sharp enough to gather his wits about him and eventually mustered a courteous tone.
“Sir, may I know your connection with Maria? I wonder if your interference with our show's broadcast is negotiable. Do you care to name a price?" The director prayed fervently that he could resolve this matter with money.
“I am her man," Anthony offered in a curt tone.
The director was taken aback yet again. And then understanding dawned on him-it was impossible to bribe this man.
He took a deep, fortifying breath and asked, "So, what on earth is it that you want? What do we have to do for you to let us off?"
“Make a public apology addressed to Maria." Anthony gave it some thought and added, “And make sure to compensate her for the mistreatment she suffered."
Maria had recently been worrying about the funds for Sophie's research. She was bothered enough by the issue that she even mumbled about it in her sleep.
Maria would wake up soon. Anthony wanted to give her a surprise the moment she stepped out of her hibernation pod.
What better gift was there than some extra cash? She had an urgent need for it, after all.
Maria woke up from a nice, long sleep.
She washed up and settled in front of the TV to find that the Last part for My College Life's seventh episode was airing.
