Chapter: 1237
Maria wasn't stupid. Despite Isla's careful speech, she understood everything now.
She looked at Isla and asked, “You knew it was arranged right from the start that Lemna Yard will be my living quarters, right?"
Isla didn't know how much she had to say. But after a moment's thought, she threw caution to the wind and answered, “Generally, people that receive the worst treatment get the Lemna Yard. I could tell that Mrs. Jenkins didn't like you when I was with her. Since you were the only one she seemed to have an aversion for, I knew you would inevitably be sent here. I had to come and clean it for you."
This was news to Maria. Before this, she would have never imagined that the Jenkins would go this far against her.
Strangely though, this new piece of information didn't get her angry as Isla had thought it would.
Maria was just glad as she realized one thing.
Isla had chosen her long before she chose her as a servant too.
With a soft sigh, Maria Looked at the empty and shabby house.
It only consisted of a bedroom, a kitchen and a bathroom.
At least, the bedroom was spacious. Even though it was only because it was joined together with the living room.
Maria could only be grateful that they at least had electricity and Internet. Those were basic things she couldn't do without.
Lemna Yard wasn't so bad after all. It could compare to a cheap motel room.
However, there was no doubt about it that this was definitely the worst housing in the entire Jenkins clan. They were so rich and powerful. One had to wonder why they would have such a shabby place in the first place.
Maria sneered as she stared at the only bed in the room.
Apparently, Isla was too low in status to deserve sleeping on a bed. Isla followed Maria‘’s gaze and guessed what she was thinking of.
“Don't worry about me, Miss Maria. I can sleep in the kitchen without a problem," she said in her usual small voice.
Hearing her speak, one would think that she had been abused for so long that she had Learned to hold her tongue.
When Maria didn't say anything, Isla looked up and saw that she was on her phone.
So, she stood silently and waited like an obedient servant that she was.
Maria was actually texting Sophie.
"Do you have a minute?" Maria typed.
"Working on some experiments. What's up?"
“Well, I need a favour. I need some money transferred to my account."
“What for?"
