Chapter: 1256
Vivian had worked so hard to get to where she was now.
There was no way she would let her plans fall Like this.
Although old Mrs. Jenkins outwardly pandered to Jack, the truth was that she was disgusted deep down.
After all, Jack was merely the chauffeur of the Sky Group's boss. She, on the other hand, was the matriarch of the Jenkins family. The idea of humbling herself in front of a chauffeur was extremely displeasing.
After the banquet, she suggested that Jack take a stroll around the manor grounds. In the same breath, she excused herself by saying that she had trouble walking. Instead, she arranged for the Gonzales couple to take Jack and keep him company.
Jack wasn't the least bit bothered by this. He didn't seem concerned about old Mrs. Jenkins' intentions at all.
In truth, he would have Liked to eat more, but he figured he shouldn't cause an incident and leave as soon as he could.
Doris and her husband hurried behind Jack as he wandered aimlessly around.
Soon, they realized that he seemed to be Looking for something. He showed no interest in the gardens or the Landscape, but his eyes seemed to rove around the yards and pavilions.
“Is there something in particular you wish to see, Sir?" Mr. Gonzales asked with a forced smile. "Please feel free to ask, so we can lead you there.”
Jack ignored his question. He looked the other man in the eye and said, “I know that old Mrs. Jenkins cannot go with me in this stroll, but why did she send only the two of you?"
The whole, time, they called him their distinguished guest, yet the only people to receive and attend to him were the family servants. Even the other members of the Jenkins family retreated soon after his arrival.
Jack was not stupid, and he was very familiar with the etiquette practiced by the powerful clans, given his own experiences. He knew very well that their treatment of him was poor and reeks of disrespect.
Mr. Gonzales’ smile turned awkward. "Well... I'm sure you're aware that old Mrs. Jenkins never had a child of her own. Over time, she grew to trust us more than her relatives. Please do not be bothered by this. The grounds are vast, but we are familiar with every crook and cranny. We can take you wherever you want to go."
“Is that so?"
Jack said without missing a beat.
He continued to lead the way and finally stopped outside a dilapidated courtyard.
"This place is..."
The couple exchanged a brief glance. It was the man who spoke up.
“Sir, I'm afraid that the Lemna Yard has been out of repair for quite some time. There is nothing in this shabby place for one as esteemed as yourself. Why don't we head back and go somewhere else? The Zenith Pavilion and the Moon Gazebo were finished recently. I can assure you that they will provide you a moment of peace and beauty."
"No, thank you. I'd like to take a look around the Lemna Yard," Jack said in a tone that brooked no argument.
“It's fine; you don't need to follow me inside."
The couple froze, at a loss. They knew that Maria and Isla resided in this ramshackle place, but they didn't dare to stop Jack.
As soon as Jack entered the courtyard, his eyes instantly fell on Isla, who was in the middle of hanging Laundry.
