The girl was immediately on guard.

“Who are you?" Isla nervously asked.

“My name is Jack Blake," Jack replied with no hesitation. "This is where Miss Maria is staying, right?"

It was no place for someone as powerful as Maria, but since Jack was already informed of her circumstances beforehand, he wasn't as affronted as he had initially been.

Isla nodded instinctively, but soon realized her mistake. She stepped forward and blocked Jack's way.

“Miss Maria is currently taking a nap. Please do not disturb her."

“She's asleep?" Jack asked in mild surprise.

He took stock of the trembling Isla. She was practically miniscule compared to his hulking size.

Even so, she stood her ground with unwavering resolve.

“ALL right, then. I'll just stick around and wait for her to wake up." With that, he took up position in the middle of the yard and stood perfectly still.

Isla was utterly baffled by this turn of events.

She had heard that the Jenkins family was expecting an important guest today, and after seeing the Gonzales couple near the entrance, she surmised that this man was none other than their distinguished guest— Mr. Jack Blake.

But he was well-mannered and courteous toward her, which threw her off. Why wasn't he Leaving? What business could he possibly have for coming to this courtyard?

Isla was still pondering this when Maria's voice flitted over from the Living room.

“Jack? Is that you? Come in, please."

Isla was rather confused by this development.

Jack, on the other hand, did not hesitate and walked into the room as if he was coming home to his own place. Isla hurried after him with a frown.

As for the Gonzales couple, they watched suspiciously as Jack disappeared through the door. They had been asked to wait outside, so that was what they did. As curious as they were, they did not dare to go against Jack's instructions

And so, they resigned themselves to private assumptions as to what was going on.

Inside, Maria was Lounging on the sofa and eating a big, juicy apple. Jack shuffled over to the side and held his hands together. He Looked like a primary school student who had been summoned to the principal's office.

“Miss Jenkins, the Sky Group has recently moved its headquarters to Broom. It is the Largest business under Mr. Wilson's name. The boss has expressed his intentions to arrange a business partnership between the Sky Group and the Jenkins family. The Jenkins family has stipulated terms that are greatly in their favor, but since everything in the Jenkins family will eventually belong to you one day, Mr. Wilson sees no problem with the agreement. In the end, it will all be in your hands. In other words, he sees no loss in this endeavor."

Jack diligently reported all that was going on, while Maria continued devouring her apple. Not once did she interrupt him, nor utter a single word.

Toward the end of his report, Jack seemed to hesitate, and his next words were spoken in a more hushed voice. "Mr. Wilson also wanted me to tell you that you need to go home more often. After all... After all, the Jenkins family will never be the same as one of your own."
