Chapter: 140
He marveled at the fact that Maria was able to direct such a big-budget project Like Legend of Anne - at her young age, too! There was no doubt that she would have a bright future. David certainly admired such brilliant talent.
"Maria..."
Vivian didn't know how to explain. She hadn't invited Maria to have lunch with them, to begin with.
“What's wrong?" Bill asked with a frown.
He had heard someone mention “Miss Jenkins", but he didn't think to associate the name with Maria.
He had just assumed David was talking about someone else, so he didn't pay too much attention it.
“Mr. Lopez wants to know why Maria won't come with us," Vivian's said in a weak voice, Lacking the confidence to speak up.
Bill laughed. It was such a trifle!
He turned to the three people there and said, "There is no need to take Maria with us. She's a simple girl, who grew up in the countryside and has never seen the world. She doesn't even know the appropriate dining etiquette at a high-end restaurant. It would be disgraceful to take her there."
Upon hearing these words, everyone's faces, including David's, darkened.
How could a father comment on his daughter Like that?
His tone was full of disdain.
People who didn't know the truth might think Bill and Maria had a grudge against each other.
Then, the three of them suddenly recalled the dispute between Maria and Vivian from a couple of days ago.
When they thought about it some more, they realized there was no physical similarity between Maria and Vivian, either.
Families that were unconventional, with children from divorced or single parents, were very common in the entertainment circle. Perhaps Maria was not Bill's biological daughter?
How else were they to explain such alienation and indifference?
“Well, in that case, I won't go with you, either."
The smile disappeared from David's face. He looked away coldly, not wanting to make eye contact with the father and daughter anymore.
With that, he turned around and left. The other two people remaining there immediately came to their senses and followed him.
