With their quick and sudden departure, Bill and Vivian had no time to ask more questions or persuade them to stay.

David and the others went straight to Maria, who was staring at her phone blankly. There was an unopened Lunch box in front of her.

"Miss Jenkins," David whispered.

"What's up?" Maria raised her head and looked at the three of them in confusion.

David smiled apologetically as he began to say, “Well, Vivian just invited the three of us to lunch. We thought you would also come with us, so we rashly agreed. But you won't be making it, I heard, so we don't have the heart to go either."

“Oh... okay." Maria immediately picked up that David was being kind to her.

But she never needed this kindness, just like she never needed to compete with Vivian.

Maria thought for a while and felt the best course of action was to be diplomatic and polite.

She responded casually, “Next time, I'll treat you to a meal."

A meal was not worth a Lot of money and effort, after all.

From close by, Bill could clearly see the three famous actors fawning over Maria. What was going on!?
