Chapter: 1423
Barbara wasn't in the mood to talk to her anymore. Without responding, she just turned around and walked to her room dejectedly.
Using the key card, she unlocked the door to her room.
Her gaze immediately landed on the gorgeous dress and jewelry box that was carefully laid out on the bed.
"At least Maria doesn't have these!" Barbara murmured stubbornly.
She tried to feel better.
"Hello? Yes, I've reached the eleventh floor. Wait a minute. There are too many rooms. Let me find it first. Here it is! Well, you can go on now."
Maria answered a phone call when she approached her suite. She was speaking casually, as though she didn't realize that she sounded a little bit Like she was showing off.
“Wait, you prepared a set of Bulgari jewelry for me? And a Givenchy dress? Come on! I don't need those things. It's a charity gala, not a fashion show. Why should I dress up Like that? Anyway, I'm a little sleepy. Let me take a short nap before the gala. Wake me up five minutes before the party starts, okay? Well, if you can't do that, then just let me be! Otherwise, I'll be cranky at the party."
By the time she finally ended the call, Maria's eyelids felt so heavy.
On the car ride over, she had begun to feel sleepy and dozed off a little. She tried to stay awake by Listening to pop music, but now, she couldn't wait to hit the hay.
She sank into the luxurious king-sized bed, feeling as though she was lying on a bed of clouds.
It didn't take Long before she started snoring softly.
The charity gala could wait. Maria needed to rest first.
After all, she was still recovering.
“Reuben, are you sure?”
In room 803, Barbara received a call from Reuben.
As Mrs. Jenkins’ most loyal servant, although he was only allowed to stay in the parking lot, he still did whatever he could to help Barbara.
After snooping around, he got some information on some of the guests who would attend the gala.
Since this charity gala was also a social event, Barbara would probably run into some big potatoes tonight. Thus, getting information on these guests was critical.
"Yes, I'm sure. Words had it that the Pill Alchemist Association will send two representatives tonight, Mr. Dixon and Mr. Duncan. Mr. Dixon is the cousin of your former teacher Mathew, the vice President of the Association of Healthcare Professionals. You'd better try to leave a good impression on Mr. Dixon."
“Yeah, I know. Sure thing."
Hearing such important insider information, Barbara's depression was instantly swept away.
Biting her lip, she didn't forget to ask, “You didn't tell Maria this, right?"
Reuben smirked.
