Chapter: 1424
“No. Why would I do that? This information was for your ears alone.”
Reuben knew how much Barbara hated Maria, so he said this on purpose to make Barbara feel better. Sure enough, Barbara burst into giggles.
“Well done, Reuben. You're so reliable. I'll be sure to put in a good word for you in front of Mrs. Jenkins as soon as we get back!"
Barbara had nothing else to reward Reuben with, so this was the only way she could show him her gratitude.
Reuben pretended to be grateful and muttered a ‘thank you'. "That's not all. I also have some information on some other guests. The Writers’ Association has sent Mr. Glyn, whose health has improved recently. There will also be several pop stars, such as Jeff Cooper, a famous singer-"
Barbara blurted, “What did you say? Jeff Cooper's going to be there?! Oh, my! I have to get his autograph!"
Reuben was stunned by her sudden outburst at first, and then he kindly reminded her, "Miss, it's not appropriate for you to ask a pop star for his autograph at an event like this. After all, you're still representing the Jenkins family."
"Oh, right." Barbara couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed.
“However, you can still befriend Mr. Cooper. From what I know, Mr. Cooper comes from one of those ancient martial arts families. Although, the Cooper family isn't as prosperous as they were in the past. I'm sure Mr. Cooper will be flattered if you want to make friends with him."
Barbara's eyes Lit up at the prospect of getting close to her idol. She was looking forward to meeting Mr. Cooper.
A black luxury car pulled into the driveway of the guesthouse. A man and a woman stepped out of the vehicle.
The man was in a customized dark blue suit which highlighted his tall, slender figure. He Looked like an international supermodel.
It was as though his face had been sculpted by God himself, with his perfectly chiseled features.
The woman, on the other hand, looked a bit ordinary standing next to the god-like man.
Wearing a plain-looking suit and a simple ponytail, the round-faced woman didn't look particularly beautiful. She didn't look bad, but there was nothing special about her.
She was probably considered average among ordinary people, but in the entertainment circle, she was a nobody.
“Jeff, how do I look? Is my makeup okay?" the woman asked nervously.
"Relax. You Look perfect. Besides, we're not tonight's protagonists," the handsome man reassured her with a smile.
The man was none other than Jeff Cooper. His agent-slash-girlfriend, Alena, was the woman standing next to him.
The relationship between Jeff and Alena was no secret in the entertainment circle. The two had met in college and had been a couple for over seven years.
Not long ago, Jeff announced their wedding date. He and Alena would officially tie the knot in just a few months.
For a pop star to marry his first love after seven years together was rare in the entertainment circle, so many fans sent them their blessings and well-wishes.
Despite Jeff's reassuring words, Alena was still a little nervous.
“It's mot the gala I'm worried about. Didn't you say that the benefactor would also be present this time? Although we've cooperated a few times already, I've never met her in person. I just want to leave a good first impression on her."
