Chapter: 1472
“I thought I could cook something tasty for you. I couldn't be stingy with the cooking oil, could 17"

Maria found herself at a loss for words. It was not just that Julie was not good at cooking. Julie had been way too generous with the cooking oil. So generous, in fact, that she had poured almost a bucket of oil into the pan and accidentally caused a fire.

All of a sudden, a strange sound was heard from the kitchen, accompanied by some white mist.

It turned out to be Anthony who just put out the fire with a fire extinguisher.

With a bang, Anthony threw the empty fire extinguisher on the ground and walked up to Maria.

“You're back, Maria."

Anthony's voice was low and calm, as if what he had just done was something insignificant.

“Yeah, the transaction is secured and I got the information," Maria told him with a faint smile.

“Well done! Good for you," Anthony replied with a nod,

The conversation between the two of them was very simple, but there was obviously an underlying meaning that only they could understand.

Now that they were in their place, they could be casual while conversing with each other.

Julie walked back into the kitchen. The white foam from the fire extinguisher had completely put out the fire, but unfortunately, her fried cabbage was also ruined.

As for the other ingredients that she had prepared and kept next to the stove, they were all wasted as well.

“Julie, don't worry about it, It's not your fault. All this wouldn't have happened if the Jenkins family had provided the meals in the first place, right? Let's order some takeout," Anthony suggested.

Anthony was a master at the art of conversation. In order to make Julie feel better, he put all the blame on the Jenkins family.

“Hmm... You're right, Anthony." Sure enough, Julie took Anthony's words at face value, even ignoring the fact that she was a bad cook.

With her eyes wide open, Maria stood on tiptoe and whispered in Anthony's ear, "Are you trying to butter up my mom?"

Anthony smiled and shrugged.

“I can't have a happy marriage without a happy mother-in-law."

The corners of Maria's mouth twitched after hearing that. It made sense. And who said a cold and arrogant man couldn't be as thoughtful as her boyfriend? She couldn't help but compliment Anthony's words.

“Grover, could you help me clean the kitchen?" Julie asked. Julie's tone suggested that Anthony's flattery worked.

Even though the kitchen was a mess and all her efforts were in vain, Julie didn't mind it all and just asked Grover to clean up the mess. Anthony had successfully dodged a bullet.

“What? Why me? Grover asked, pulling a face.

“Don't give me that grumpy face." Julie said, narrowing her eyes.
