Chapter: 1609
Turning his head to look at Marilyn for the second time, the expression on Michael's face implied that he recognized her from somewhere.

“Are you Dr. River? You're the doctor from the last time, aren't you Marilyn couldn't tell if he had referred to her as "Dr. River’ intentionally, instead of "Dr. Rivera".

The next second, her face turned red with embarrassment.

ALL of a sudden, she remembered how she couldn't get him to wake up the other time. She felt it was awkward enough.

“You know, saving Lives and treating people doesn't mean you have to be able to make them wake up. As a matter of fact, allowing a patient to sleep speeds up their recovery. Patients need rest.

You might not know, but forcibly waking patients might only address the symptoms in question, but never the root cause. I'm sure you know what that means. If you don't, it means more trouble, as the patients would be put in risky situations because of that," Jaxon interjected out of the blue.

Just like Marilyn, he couldn't tell whether Michael was confused, but even so, he just couldn't let his daughter get embarrassed.

Michael nodded to Jaxon's words as he listened attentively.

After that, Michael turned to Raymond and asked, "Haven't you paid the doctor's fees? Did you pay enough? Why make the doctor go through the trouble of coming back here for the money? What are you here waiting for? Go ahead and give the doctor some more money!"

Even though Michael addressed Raymond, Jaxon seethed with anger at the implication of his words.

How dare Michael treat them like this! Jaxon felt it was nothing less than an insult. He was a retired hospital director, and his daughter was a young doctor with a Ph.D., so how could they be sent away like this?

Raymond couldn't help but feel embarrassed. He turned to Jaxon and apologized. Then he said to Michael, “Dad, you must be joking. These two prominent doctors have volunteered to conduct a follow-up examination for you. Aren't they kind people?”

“A follow-up examination? Why? Is anything wrong?"

Shaking his head, Michael thought for a few seconds before he continued, “I'm doing just fine now, so what's the need for a follow -up examination?"

Hearing this, Marilyn and Jaxon wished they hadn't come here to embarrass themselves.

With sweat breaking through his forehead, Raymond hastened to explain, "You're not a doctor. These experts know your condition better than you do. Just listen to them."

"I'm doing no such thing as a follow-up! I won't!" Still shaking his head, Michael was showing just how stubborn he could be.

It was normal for old people to behave weirdly at times, but they had never expected Micheal to behave so childishly.

Jaxon, a scheming person, recognized that it was unwise to continue wasting time with Michael.

With a smile, Jaxon said in a soft voice, "Well, I should let him be since he has reached a decision. Can you call the attention of Mr. Anthony Wilson? I'd love to have some words with him.

Jaxon and Marilyn had come for Anthony in the first place. Given Michael's firm stance, Jaxon didn't feel like talking to Michael anymore and steered the conversation toward Anthony.

“Who? Anthony? Why? May I know the reason? You know, he's swamped with work. Please refrain from disturbing him. Maybe just leave a message if needed."

Michael proved to be a pain in the neck for them.

Jaxon's patience wore thin.
