Chapter: 1613
They employed many top professionals across their businesses. Such titles were familiar to them.
Marilyn's boasting might have once earned someone a commendable position, but not in their world.
“Well, you can have a look if you're interested," Maria said with a shrug, indifferent but aware that Marilyn and Jaxon wouldn't grasp her medical movements.
How could practitioners of modern medicine understand the techniques of the world of martial arts?
Maria produced a small cloth pouch from her pocket, unfolded it, and revealed dozens of silver needles.
Jaxon scoffed.
"So, this is your plan? Acupuncture and traditional medicine? Although I am a professional in the field of modern medicine, I had studied traditional medicine out of personal interest back in my university days."
“My dad only got a bachelor's degree in traditional medicine because he was focusing on modern medicine. If not for that, he could have easily earned a doctorate!" Marilyn boasted about Jaxon without missing a beat.
“Oh, is that so?" Maria replied, sounding unimpressed as if what she'd heard was nothing out of the ordinary.
“Well, you don't understand the significance of such a qualification in my dad's time," Marilyn retorted, her disdain for Maria's apparent ignorance clear in her expression, though she said nothing.
"I'm starting," Maria said, trying to move on from the boring conversation. She began her medical treatment on Michael.
Meanwhile, Michael had moved from the rocking chair to a wooden armchair.
"As I administer the treatment, I'll channel energy into you to expand your meridians and cleanse any leftover toxins," Maria whispered in Michael's ear.
Michael nodded, indicating he understood.
The first needle punctured a acupoint right in the center of Michael's chest, aligned with the fourth rib.
"This point can stimulate blood flow, expand the chest, and boost energy. But according to your description of Michael's condition, acupuncture alone won't do much to Michael's recovery. I doubt Maria has much skill beyond basic knowledge of traditional medicine injections," Jaxon whispered to Marilyn, a hint of condescension in his voice.
"Yeah..." Marilyn just nodded, a smug grin forming on her face.
The second needle Landed between Michael's eyebrows.
"That's absurd!" Jaxon sneered again.
“Acupuncture on this spot is said to awaken the brain, soothe the mind, and clear thoughts. It may help with headaches, dizziness, eye problems, colds, mental exhaustion, insomnia, nasal issues, high blood pressure, and such, but it's not the right treatment for Michael's condition," Jaxon shared his judgment to Marilyn in a low voice.
Marilyn couldn't contain her smug smile anymore.
At first, she was worried that Maria might be skilled.
But now it seemed Maria just put on a show to make Michael happy.
"Maria's skills were mediocre," Marilyn muttered to herself.
