Chapter: 1636
She led the way, with Isla and Grover trailing behind.
Julie lagged, feeling oddly left out as if being intentionally excluded.
This sensation puzzled her, but soon she overheard the trio's hushed conversation.
“They even went for dinner after having a date in the coffee shop.
Madam must really like Mr. Navarro," Grover remarked, a stark contrast to his usual stoic self.
Isla chimed in, "Madam needs more in her life than just caring for Miss. Mr. Navarro's arrival is timely. We should root for them to get closer."
Isla had been reading a lot lately. That was probably why she started talking about life's meaning at such a young age.
Julie felt her cheeks heat up with embarrassment.
They were talking about her, right in front of her!
Sure, they meant well, but they were discussing some really personal stuff.
Had she known it earlier, she would have stayed at the Smith House tonight.
Julie decided she'd ask Ian to take her back to the Smith residence on the next date and then come back to Lemna Yard the following day.
As she thought about it, Julie had a sudden realization. Why was she looking forward to another date with Ian? Was she eager to fall in love with him?
“Mom, why are you just standing there?"
Maria's voice snapped Julie back to reality.
Julie realized she was still in the yard, lost in her thoughts.
"Oh... Nothing. I'm on my way."
Julie hurried to catch up with them, walking alongside the three with some hesitation.
Ahead of Julie, Isla and Grover stopped their chit-chat, sneaking glances at Julie now and then.
The stares from the trio made Julie feel even more awkward as if they expected her to talk about her date.
At last, Julie gathered her courage and said, "Don't worry. Both Ian and I are grown-ups. We'll handle things well."
"Absolutely!" Grover nodded vigorously.
“You'll find happiness!"
Julie's cheeks flushed even more. Was he serious? Embarrassed, she wished she could just run away!
