Chapter: 1670
“I'm Kent Barnes. Do I also need to be inspected?" Kent inquired.
His car was designed with privacy. One could see out from the inside, but the view into the car was obscured from the outside.
Recognizing Kent, the guard quickly apologized, "Mr. Barnes? My apologies, I didn't realize it was your vehicle. Please, go right ahead!"
The process was smoother than anticipated. The guard didn't bother to check the other occupants of the car, sparing Kent the need to use the prepared excuses for Octavian's presence.
They drove smoothly into the Association of Healthcare Professionals, parking at Kent's exclusive office building.
Back in his office, Kent still felt a twinge of nervousness. He invited Octavian to sit on the sofa and booted up his computer. Then, he requested his assistant to bring two cups of coffee.
The coffee arrived promptly, but it was delivered by a beautiful girl Kent didn't recognize.
"Are you new here? What's your name?" Kent asked, his brow furrowed in slight confusion.
The girl, seemingly nervous and somewhat awkward, stuttered her response, “I... My name is Judy Bruce..."
Judy's delivery of the coffee didn't particularly catch Octavian's attention.
Octavian had encountered numerous beautiful women, and although he acknowledged Judy's attractiveness, he was preoccupied with more pressing matters.
Octavian just made a mental note that Judy was Kent's attractive assistant, and he planned to reach out to Judy once his current task was complete. He was confident in his ability to charm her due to her seemingly inexperienced aura.
Meanwhile, the computer connected to the internal network of the Association of Healthcare Professionals was ready. Kent was at the helm, but he didn't immediately access the association's database.
“Isn't it done yet?" Octavian inquired.
Kent shrugged, explaining, “The association's system underwent an upgrade a few months ago. Now, high-level accounts like mine, with full database access, undergo a thorough qualification review each time we log in."
Octavian scoffed at this.
"Clumsy, but I guess it's a sensible precaution." He watched the slow-moving progress bar on the computer screen, feeling a sense of satisfaction rather than impatience. To him, the security upgrade was inconsequential. There wouldn't be any problem with the final test results.
This time, Octavian hadn't hacked into the Association of Healthcare Professionals’ system through technical means. Instead, he had simply bought off Kent, who possessed a high-level account. This approach strayed from traditional hacking methods, relying less on technical skills and more on manipulation.
"It takes about five minutes," Kent said, sounding a bit bored. He then wandered over to the office window.
“Holy shit! What is that old man doing here?"
Looking through the glass window, Kent noticed a black car pulling up outside an office building across the street. The first person to emerge was Goodwin from the Pill Alchemist Association.
Goodwin was a well-known figure in the martial arts world. Although Goodwin had retired for years, Kent still recognized him instantly.
Kent wondered why Goodwin would visit the Association of Healthcare Professionals at this time.
A senior representative from the Association of Healthcare Professionals promptly greeted Goodwin, confirming the significance of his visit.
