Chapter: 210
“No way!"
Vivian and Cheryl shouted at the same time, strongly refusing Thomas‘ idea.
For these two women, asking Maria for help was more humiliating than losing the game. There was no way that they would agree to this.
But regardless of their own considerations, as the team leader, Thomas shouted at Team A in the game.
“Master Maria, help us! We'll be slaughtered by the zombies!"
Before Maria could say or do anything, the zombies had already broken into Team B's fortress. The game was finally over, with Team A claiming victory.
This particular exhibition game, which was full of twists and surprises, became an epic event to remember for Wasteland fans for the next few years.
But the woman who had attracted so much public attention to the game, Maria herself, had no idea of the impact she had made.
As soon as she went back backstage after the game was over, she passed out abruptly. Fortunately, she happened to fall into Anthony's arms.
Sitting in his wheelchair, Anthony held Maria close, letting her head rest on his shoulder.
Onlookers couldn't help but shoot them curious glances.
Anthony explained calmly, "She is too tired. Don't worry, I'm her family. I'll take good care of her."
His steady and mellow voice sounded reliable, and was enough to reassure everyone backstage.
Somehow, there was a hint of complacency in his tone when he said that he was Maria's family.
When Maria woke up a few hours later, she found herself in an unfamiliar room, lying in a big, comfortable bed.
For a moment, her body stiffened, but she relaxed again when her eyes fell on the man sitting at the bedside. It was Anthony.
“We are home," he said softly.
Home?
The word didn't quite register in Maria's mind, but she soon realized that she was in Anthony's villa.
Since it was a private villa safe from prying eyes, Anthony was no longer sitting in his wheelchair.
