Chapter: 211
His long and well-proportioned legs reminded Maria of those top basketball players in the NBA.
"When did I fall asleep?" she asked, sitting up.
“Barely five minutes after the game ended," Anthony teased.
“Did I cause you any trouble? It must have been inconvenient for you to bring me here,” Maria said, lowering her eyes in embarrassment.
“It doesn't matter. You're very light."
These words made Maria blush for the first time.
Since Anthony told her that she was light, he must have been the one who carried her back.
The two of them looked at each other in silence for a few seconds, as if time had stood still.
Then a pressing matter occurred to Maria. Was she going to stay the night here? Was she going to sleep in Anthony's bed? Was it too late to go back to the Jenkins family's house now?
She looked around for a clock so that she could check the time.
“It's one o‘clock in the morning. I already called your parents and told them that you will be staying the night here,“ Anthony said, as if he could read her mind.
"Okay..."
Overcome with an inexplicable guilty conscience, Maria shrank back into the quilt.
Their conversation lulled to a stop, and about twenty minutes later, Maria felt sleepy again.
Anthony seemed to have no intention of leaving the room, but he didn't join her in the bed, either.
At first, Maria was a little flustered, but because of Anthony's “indifference”, she gradually calmed down.
"Go to sleep. I'm just accompanying you."
Seeing that Maria was trying to resist falling asleep, Anthony finally explained in a serious tone.
Hearing his words, Maria frowned.
Only patients needed to be accompanied, right?
