Chapter: 213
After a short pause, Julie added slowly, “Patricia has secured a seat for Vivian. The training course will start the day after tomorrow."
Maria nodded, but said nothing.
A spark flickered in Julie's eyes, as if she had finally gotten the courage to say what she wanted to. In a low voice, she asked, “Maria, do you want to take part in the training course too?"
In Julie's opinion, Maria could basically be considered an artist too, because she had worked as the acting chief director of the show--Legend of Anne, and even participated in the Wasteland exhibition game.
Although Maria would be marrying into the Wilson family sooner or later, it didn't mean that she couldn't have her own career.
ALL those years ago when Julie married Bill, she had dropped out of medical school, and basically said goodbye to her career.
Her life had changed dramatically since then. Almost overnight, she, the daughter of the Smith family in Broome, had gone from being the top student of medical school to being the wife of a rich man in Sheffield.
Looking back on it now, Julie felt that she had made the wrong choice, and she had been dawdling her time away all these years.
She knew that Maria was a bright girl too, and that it would be a little pathetic if the latter ended up like her in the future. She couldn't bear to see that happen.
“Me? Attend the training course?" Maria was stunned.
Julie nodded enthusiastically.
“Yes, I can ask Patricia to help enroll you in the program as well-"
Patricia, who was chatting and Laughing with Vivian, then interrupted her with a sneer.
“Julie, there is a basic criteria for joining the training course of the Film and Television Association. How can I arrange for a total novice to participate in it? Maria has never attended acting school before, nor does she have any acting experience. She isn't even signed to any entertainment company. How can you ask me to arrange for a seat for her? Do you take me for a joke?"
Vivian also curled her lips in dissatisfaction. What was wrong with her mother recently? Had Julie really started to think of Maria as her own daughter? And more importantly... what if Maria attended the training course and became a more popular actress than her in the future? Thinking of that, Vivian clenched her fists in anger.
“Mom, Maria will be getting married in a year. She doesn't need to attend the training course," Vivian pointed out gently, as if she was speaking for Maria's sake.
"Besides, Maria has been staying overnight at Anthony's place recently. It's okay for a woman to get pregnant before marriage, but for an artist, it will be a huge scandal."
Julie opened and closed her mouth Like a goldfish. She wanted to refute Vivian's words, but they made sense.
Maria would face a lot of inconveniences on the path to being an artist. Julie realized that in her eagerness to create a better future for Maria, she had been too thoughtless.
Pressing her Lips together, she looked at Maria apologetically.
