Chapter: 262
“Anthony and I have a good relationship. Please don't worry.”
Jessica sighed, not looking convinced in the slightest.
“It's understandable for a couple to fight every now and then, but the two of you aren't even married. Look at you now! Will you just break up by next year?”
Maria and Anthony were both speechless, and the room fell into an uncomfortable silence.
Maria shot a look at Anthony, as if to ask, “Is your aunt a doctor or a psychic?" After patching up Anthony's wound, Jessica turned to Maria and ordered her to lie down.
Today, she had brought along a few handheld medical devices which could test almost anything except for magnetic resonance. However, handheld devices would take more time.
It was an hour later when Jessica finally finished her work.
“Your narcolepsy doesn't seem to be getting worse, but it's not getting better, either. The key to solving it is still your traumatic experiences."
As Jessica spoke, she looked straight into Maria's eyes, as if trying to see through her.
After a moment of hesitation, she continued, "Do you remember anything about it? Can you tell me the cause of your narcolepsy?”
Maria shook her head silently.
It seemed that Jessica had expected this reaction, because she didn't ask any further questions.
Instead, she took out a bottle of medicine she had prepared and handed it to Anthony.
“This is a medicine I developed. Like what Christopher gave you, it can only keep her situation stable."
Jessica's face darkened as she explained. For a doctor, not being able to cure a patient even though they were right in front of them was a humiliation. She couldn't stand it at all.
Pinching Maria's ear all of a sudden, Jessica said sharply, “Take the medicine exactly as advised. You can't miss even one pill! I don't care how badly you suffered when you were a child. You better recall everything and tell me about it as soon as possible!"
Whatever trauma Maria had suffered in her childhood, it was the root cause of her narcolepsy.
However, it was wholly possible that Maria didn't remember the exact event that caused her narcolepsy because she was too young at that time.
Jessica believed so, and so she didn't continue to ask.
After packing up her things, Jessica left in a hurry.
