Chapter: 3
"Done."

Maria messaged the staff as soon as she finished the task

Normally, upon the completion of an order, the client would check the work first before proceeding with the payment.

However, as soon as the client found out that it was Master M who had taken the job, they transferred the money to her account even before she was done with her work.

It only took Maria a total of five minutes to finish the tedious task, gaining three hundred thousand dollars in the process.

“Excellent! Thank you so much, Master M! You managed to protect their charity funds! The kids who receive financial help from the client definitely owe you!"

“No need to thank me. It's my job, and I got paid for it."

As soon as Maria sent her reply, she exited the chat box and shut the laptop briskly.

Then, she sank into the bed behind her and fell asleep instantly.

Unbeknownst to everyone, Maria suffered from a rare disease called narcolepsy.

She didn't even bother telling her new family about her condition.

Because of this disease, she tended to sleep longer than normal people.

Sometimes, she could even sleep for up to twenty-four hours.

Whenever the narcolepsy struck, Maria would have no choice but to fall asleep on the spot. This meant that she was prone to accidents or even suffocation.

While her condition wasn't fatal, the potential consequences were.

She was only supposed to take a nap, but by the time she woke up, it was already past eight in the evening.

No one had even bothered to try to wake her up for dinner.

Maria wandered around the house and found Lily in the living room.

“Lily, is there anything I can eat? I overslept, and now I'm hungry."

"Oh, you're finally up. I thought you'd never wake up!"

Lily snorted, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

“The family went out for a concert, so they won't be home until Later tonight. Besides cooking, I also have other household chores. You missed dinner and it wasn't my fault. I'm not going to cook for you now. You're from the countryside. You should be able to cook at least noodles, right? There are ingredients in the fridge."

As someone who had also come from a poor family, Lily figured that a bumpkin Like Maria should at least know how to cook something basic.

After all, they had no one else to rely on but themselves in the countryside.

Maria stared at Lily, who claimed that she was busy with chores.
