Chapter: 374
Vivian then remembered Patricia had seemed a lot more excited about it.
Once she was ready, Vivian took a good, long look at herself in the mirror.
This event being conducted by Novel Hub was going to be large-scale and a high profile one.
Many well-known online authors and executives from various novel websites would be present and they would appear in front of the public like celebrities walking the red carpet.
Vivian was only an actress from a few small-budget web series. Nevertheless, she was still a celebrity and would have to pay careful attention to her appearance at this event.
Looking at her reflection, she felt as though she was dressed too plainly. Then she had a thought and smiled as she said, "Mom, may I borrow your white jade bracelet?"
Julie didn't own too much jewelry, and the little she had was simple. However, she treasured that white jade bracelet very much.
It was delicate, highly prized for its beauty. It was a piece of the best quality that had been made by a famous jewelry designer. Its value was comparable to the villa they were Living!
The jade bracelet was one of the very few things Julie had taken from her parents. It had belonged to her grandmother and had been passed on to her as a descendent of the Smith family.
It was a treasured family heirloom. When Julie was pregnant, she had imagined passing it on to her own child once she had grown up.
When she lost the baby, and a part of her seemed to die with her child. Since then, she had locked it up in a box and only took it out to look at it very occasionally.
Vivian was unaware of its existence until she accidentally see it one day when Julie took it out.
"No!" There wasn't a moment's hesitation as Julie refused the request. Vivian had been spoilt since she was a child and although she always revered her mother, she was being too presumptuous today.
“Mom! Vivian snapped.
“This is a big day for me. This event could be the start of a new future for me! Do you really value your bracelet more than your daughter's future?"
Julie remained silent. She didn't want to answer Vivian's question, which might only worsen the situation.
However, Vivian became more impatient with Julie's silence. She really wanted to have the bracelet right now. "Mom! Your belongings will be passed on to me anyway. Will it really matter if I get the bracelet earlier? It's not like you will suffer a loss! Besides, I'll be careful. I promise that it won't get damaged or lost.”
Julie wanted to say something to argue with Vivian. But on second thought, she chose to remain silent.
She knew how precious the jade bracelet was. Moreover, the thought of passing it to Vivian had never occurred to her.
In the end, Julie realized that she couldn't see Vivian as her own daughter.
