Chapter: 424
Patricia also saw Boden arrive. As if she regained her senses, she subtly pulled back her hand which was holding Bill. But she still held onto Vivian's arm as if they were mother and daughter.
“Cousin Boden, why are you so Late? We have been waiting for you for a long time!" Vivian called out in a sweet voice.
Boden smiled and approached them.
“I'm sorry for keeping you waiting. I just had to deal with something at home."
“It's fine. You were just on time for Master Geoffrey's appearance. I'm sure he should come out and entertain his guests soon enough, right?" Bill laughed, seeing himself as an important figure.
Boden just nodded.
“Actually, I've received a news that today's celebration isn't just special because it is Master Geoffrey's eightieth birthday. I heard that he will finally be announcing in public that he will be taking in a disciple. With that, the Geoffrey Jade Carving School will still have a successor," Boden explained solemnly.
"Is that true? Master Geoffrey is finally taking in an apprentice?!" Bill exclaimed in utter surprise.
Of course, Patricia and Vivian were also shocked. They thought that the old man would never find a worthy disciple in his lifetime.
Vivian took out a delicate jade piece from her bag. She then stared at it as she softly uttered, “That's awesome. His disciple is going to be very lucky. It's just pity that it won't be me."
Although she learned painting before, she had never been involved or studied jade carving. Without sugarcoating it, she knew nothing about this excellent art.
Boden glanced at his cousin in surprise. He didn't expect that these words would come from someone Like her.
“Actually, Master Vincent once mentioned what his standards are when it comes to choosing his disciple. You may not believe this, but he doesn't care about the skills of the person. As long as they are perceptive and have unique tastes in art, those traits are enough. The only major reason why he can't recruit any apprentice all this time is that he can't find a young talented prospect who's outstanding enough to win his favor," Boden explained casually.
Hearing this, Patricia raised an eyebrow and asked, “He doesn't care much about the person's skills? What does that mean? As long as Master Vincent thinks that this person is talented enough, that is enough basis to become his disciple, regardless of his or her status?"
Boden nodded slowly and reiterated, “That's right. In fact, I understand the logic behind it. Is there Master Geoffrey jade carving skill in the world that Vincent doesn't have? No. So, if he finally has an apprentice, he can teach him or her all the skills he knows, from the basic up to the most complicated ones. However, one's talent for art is innate. That's something that Master Vincent has no control over."
The three also nodded in agreement, realizing that Boden made sense.
Then, he continued half-jokingly, “In theory, even Vivian, who has never been involved in jade carvings, can also have the chance to become Master Vincent's apprentice."
Although it was meant to be a joke, Vivian took it to heart. She did have a lot of other talents that were art-related.
With a serious expression, she fell into silence. She thought that if she really became Master Vincent's disciple, her rise to fame would be guaranteed. She would attract lots of attention all over the country!
She would also become the most streamed celebrity in the entertainment circle.
