Chapter: 612
"Don't worry. Your aunt is going to be okay!" Cory usually spoke loudly and Vivian experienced serious ear pain when he spoke to her this up close.
“Please take these gifts, Cory. I went to a gynecologist in Broome to get her recommendation, and I bought them."
Bill smiled and spoke warmly to Cory as he greeted him.
Bill had limited interaction with Cory before. When he saw that Bill had visited the patient so quickly, Cory nodded in approval.
“I appreciate it, Bill. On Lorraine's behalf, I gratefully accept these gifts."
He took a quick look at the gifts. They were all different sorts of expensive tonics.
These items were relatively common in the Smith household, but Bill purchased them on the advice of a medical professional, which immediately increased the value of these premium healthcare products.
“My mother is asleep, Vivian. Please do not disturb her at this moment."
Ron provided a concise synopsis of the situation. He said the doctor had hinted that Lorraine's condition might be caused by something she ate.
He didn't realize that Vivian was actually the most knowledgeable about the situation.
It turned out that Patricia's prescription was spot on. Not even Broome's most renowned medical professionals suspected that a simple cup of herbal tea was the cause.
However, on the surface, she looked nervous and worried.
In reality, though, she was ecstatic, especially after learning that
Lorraine would be bedridden for at least three months.
Three months! That would gave her plenty of time to finish writing Song of Phoenix! After that, nobody would have the gall to say that she plagiarized!
Since Bill and Vivian had come to see how Lorraine was doing and she was already asleep, they did not plan to stay for long.
However, when Vivian realized her plan had been successful, she relaxed into a state of mild elation.
While chatting with Cory, Bill winked at his daughter to signal that they should get going.
Nonetheless, Vivian didn't appear to pick up on her father's subtle hints. She continued to chat with Cory and Ron.
Just like a considerable young lady, she comforted her uncle and cousin.
Suddenly, Vivian shifted the conversation's focus and asked, “Maria must have come to see Aunt Lorraine as well, right?" Was Anthony also present, or did she come here by herself?"
As soon as she spoke these words, Cory's face became gloomy.
A frown appeared on Ron's face as well. Awkwardly, he said, "Well... Maria has yet to come."
Sometimes this was how things worked out.
