Chapter: 637
“Sophie,”
Maria interrupted impatiently. This was the problem with talking to people of science-they always went off on a tangent, and it would take effort to ensure that they stayed on track.
“My grandfather is not suffering from any disease. His organs are failing due to old age. But my mother wants to extend Grandpa's Life as much as possible. She wants to spend more time with him."
“Oh? I see."
The head of the institution, Sophie Newman, didn't think Maria's request sounded ridiculous at all. After thinking for a moment, she asked Maria for some basic information about her grandfather.
She only cared about the old man's age, blood type, height and weight, and his medical history. The fact that he was the head of the wealthy Smith family did not pique Sophie's attention at all.
“So, are you asking me to find out if there is any specific medicine that can prolong his life?"
“Yes.”
Sophie smiled thinly.
“Then I can tell you right now that no such medicine exists, not here in our country and not anywhere abroad."
Maria fell into a restless silence. "Really?" she asked absent-mindedly.
Sophie continued, "Human research on biology is still far from finding out a way to reverse the natural phenomenon of ageing. Death is the end of human life. Our science and technology can't change it."
Maria exhaled sharply.
“Got it. Bye."
"Wait!"
Maria was about to hang up the phone when Sophie stopped her.
“What's wrong?" Maria asked.
“Well " Sophie began with a strange smile on her face.
“Death can't be stopped, but it can certainly be postponed. That's the truth we've uncovered with our past few years of scientific research here at the institute."
“At our institute? But how?"
Maria was the primary investor of Sophie's research institute.
Over the years, the amount of money Maria had invested into the research institute had reached a shocking amount.
Although Maria was not an expert in medical field, she knew the direction that the research was taking.
The institute's aim was to find a cure for all diseases caused by psychological factors, including narcolepsy.
