Chapter: 742
Although Jacqueline looked stunning, her beauty wasn't as natural as Maria's.
“Anthony, why are you calling me Miss Bowles? You make it sound as if we're strangers. Just call me Jacqueline," Jacqueline said with a smile.
The moment she snapped her fingers, the baristas and waiters immediately went to work.
“This is the first time we've met. I don't think we're close enough to address each other by our first names," Anthony expressionlessly replied.
Jacqueline's smile froze in an instant when she heard that.
She went out an extra mile to Look good for him today since she thought she could attract him or at least make him forget about their unpleasant past.
However, she was wrong. Anthony refused to acknowledge their past, and that made her feel very embarrassed.
Even though she was his ex-fiancee, that was indeed the first time that they had met.
In fact, Anthony didn't even know their so-called engagement back then. As soon as he found out about it, he saw to it that the engagement was immediately terminated.
“Anthony, I..." Jacqueline trailed off as tears welled up in her eyes. She tried to silently remind him that she was also a mere victim of the conflict between the Bowles family and the Wilson family.
“Miss Bowles, let's just talk about business." Anthony interrupted her by waving his hand. "Most of the projects between the Bowles Group and Wilson Group have been terminated, but there is still one suspended project. I hope to officially put an end to that project today. Shall we begin?"
Meanwhile, Maria stopped in front of the fish section in the supermarket .
She let out a slight frown as she stood in front of a water tank. Outside of the water tank was labeled as “grass carp" but there was no fish inside.
It seemed like the grass carp had already been sold out.
So, she sent Anthony a message, saying, "I don't mean to disturb you but the grass carp is sold out. What should I do? Should I cook something else for you?"
Maria took a picture of the water tank and sent it to Anthony along with the text.
She hoped that he wouldn't misunderstand her. As his fake fiancee, she definitely wasn't jealous. She originally didn't want to send him messages while he was dating his ex. But he did say he wanted her to cook something for him, and now that the ingredient had been sold out, it was only reasonable that she kept him updated, right?
She figured that he was probably busy at that moment and didn't expect him to reply right away.
As she stared at the screen, she began to worry that she might have to wait a while for his reply. But to her surprise, he answered almost a second later.
"Forget it. Just go home and rest. I'LL buy something on my way back and we'll have dinner together at home. What do you want to eat? I'LL buy it for you."
Surprised, Maria replied, “Are you sure I'm not causing you any trouble?"
She couldn't understand how he managed to reply to her message almost immediately when he was out with his ex on a date.
"You aren't. Just tell me what you want to eat."
Maria didn't want to trouble him, so she simply thought of a certain kind of street food that could be seen everywhere in Sheffield-spicy hot pot.
